This is the first UOA I have done on my wife's 2004 Honda powered Saturn Vue V6(2WD). Prior to me starting to change her oil, most except for 1 OIC was performed at the dealer. This engine has seen whatever the dealer uses for bulk oil and on multiple occasions I have supplied them with Castrol GTX 5W20 and MC 5W20 to use. Pep Boys did one change with Pennzoil 5W20.

Filter was PP L14610

I did add 4 oz of LC20 and 3 maintenance doses at 1k each. Was a little suprised by the low viscosity for Havoline...any ideas? Currently have another round of Havoline in the sump and 5 oz of LC20. Will continue with maintenance doses. This is one smooth running engine for sure...Rides very nice for an SUV.

Next fill will be with the Valvoline MaxLife 5W20 I picked up for free...well hopefully

I would not change a thing.

I'll try to have a 5800 mile (OLM just went off) on my Dads AWD Honda powered VUE soon if he will do one.

Pennzoil 5w-20 and ST 7317 on this OCI. Tons of short trips durning the winter.

I would not worry about the visc..

Looks good Goose!

Nice report. Even though it shows a great report, for the heat of summer I would be tempted to put some 10W-30 as a mix in there.

Blue Goose,
How did you paste the Blackstone report on the forum? I have tried to copy and paste from the PDF file, but it does not work.

Thanks

Do a search on the web for PDF to JPG converters...usually there are 30 day trials(hence my demo mode water mark

)

I then open it in Paint, take out my personal info, upload it to photobucket.com and link it here.

Blue Goose,
Thanks for the info. Believe it or not, that's a little over my computer illiterate head. I think I'll have to stick to typing. But your report sure looks nice, and the metal numbers are good too. I don't understand why the universal average for copper is 35. The copper UA for my engine is 4.

Regarding PDF to image file:

Since this is a relatively small graphic that fits on the screen why don't you just have Acrobat reader scale it to fit entirely in a maximized window, take a snapshot to your clipboard with Alt-PrtSc, then paste this into your imaging program (like Paint) where you can then trim off the Acrobat window junk and wipe out your personal info?

No additional software needed to do that.

The numbers look good. I can only hope that my 2004 V6 VUE gives similar numbers at that mileage. (I have 12,100 on it right now.)

I actually just had an oil change done on the VUE. I have been running Mobil 1 0W-20/5W-20 since the first oil change, but switched to MC 5W-20 for this interval. Have not done an oil analysis yet since the engine is still relatively new.

I forgot to add, the Vue does at least 70 miles per day r/t commute 95% highway and the errands on weekends.

It made a trip from NH to Dover AFB when it only had about 200-300 miles on it so break in was a long highway ride...looks like it didn't affect it too much

That was a memorable trip...I was out on the flightline when the C5 that brought Pat Tillman's body back landed and we witnessed the Honor Guard carrying his casket off the knelt down front of the plane.

Guys, Acrobat Reader has a tool that let's you copy images from within the Acrobat document and then you paste it into a photo editing applications (like Photoshop) where you can resize it and crop out whatever info you don't want to show.

Once you select the "Select Image" tool you drag the expanding box around the portion of the image you want to copy. Once you release the mouse button, the area you have selected is copied. Then you paste it into your photo editing program.

Great UOA. I wouldn't worry about the thinner viscosity as there's no extra wear happening as a result.

I'd be curious to see if the synth versions of the dino's you've used in this Vue would provide longer OCI's and less shear down??
