Yesterday I attempted to fuel up my truck when I noticed gasoline running all over the ground. The rubber hose that connects the filler neck to the the gas tank had come loose from the tank. Upon further inspection, the point at which the hose attaches to the gas tank is plastic and had melted itself shut. I was hauling a 5000 lbs boat so I know I was generating a lot of heat, but I am shocked at what happened. My only guess is that I have a heat shield missing some somewhere. Anyone ever of hear of this problem happening? My repair garage seemed quite baffled when I called them. I will try and get some pictures of it today.

I have an '04 SLT I've owned since new and have not had this problem or heard of it. I feel like I keep pretty well informed on all the known problems with this year, make and model as I have just about had them all and have had to Google this truck to no end over the years, LOL. I also have it plugged into the MOPAR customer site, which is supposed to notify of campaigns, but I don't trust it/them so I log in regularly to look myself. Truck has had several issues over the years. It's only saving grace with me has been that it is easy to work on for the most part and parts are fairly cheap and available. But, now I'm ready to let it go and update. I'm sort of tired of it being the "one thing after another" vehicle, and what you are now describing is just that...
