The heat and AC seem to work OK but sometimes when I'm sitting in the car the blend door is just clicking away endlessly. I scanned and there are a bunch of codes but this is the one that seems relevant: B0229.

Thing is I'm not sure which of the like dozen blend door actuators listed in the parts system is the one I need? It has the automatic dual zone climate control.

You are better off removing the entire dash and replacing all the blend doors at one time. The plastic shaft breaks and the seals dry rot and jam up the doors. My 08 Grand Cherokee is in need of some attention right now so I'm going to have to bite the bullet and do it over a weekend. It's been two seasons now of reaching under the dash and manually changing from heat to air with a screw drilled into the broken shaft. It's a very long two day job for one person speaking from past experience on other vehicles I've done.

Try the You Tube route and see what others have found out. Some blend door actuators are not bad to get at. In the Chevy there is even one where you have to pull the passenger side air bag, but very doable. Didn’t even have to disconnect the wiring.

Having said that, yes, it’s true a blend door itself can break requiring a lot of work. Good luck.

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The following DTCs are for the HVAC door actuators:
- B0229 is for the recirculation actuator.
- B0414 is for the left air temperature actuator.
- B0424 is for the right air temperature actuator.
- B3770 is for the mode actuator.

That is the recirc door actuator . Not the temp or mode door so now you know which one.

#1 in the picture...you are talking HOURS of labor to get to that one. Book says 6 plus more if you have a console.

please only use gm genuine parts here or you WILL be doing it again. I have installed plenty of these actuators. side note, pulling the dash pad is harmless if you have two people.

Ugh, thanks all. Will decide what I want to do about it. And yes I'll definitely put the best parts in that I can find!
