Yeah I remember reading that on the Escape forums. I do think the early formulations were problematic in the older transmissions. The last change on hers was at around 90k (need to get out there and get it changed) and I know it was Mercon V.

Yeah - I think a lot of those issues are with the 1.6 and I told her to go with the 2.0. She's looking at a 14 so I hope they have the kinks worked out by the summer. We've both driven it and it's a really nice vehicle.

Anyway - enjoy yours - if you treat it right it will last you a good while.

Thanks everyone. I am going to be putting an order into rock auto real soon and we will see how it goes. I am looking at about 300 for everything, couldn't imagine what a mechanic would charge.

I prefer using Wix fuel filters because they include replacement brackets, and usually brackets on fuel filters are in bad condition by the time you replace the filter.

I am not sure how the fuel filter is set up in your car. Many Fords have a coupler that needs a special disconnect tool, and half the time, that doesn't even work. You end up needing a whole hose.
