2003 BMW 530i A5S325Z fluid change options

Okay so I acquired an e39 530i from my father about 6 months ago and have been going through all the fluids on the vehicle progressively. It's about time to do the transmission and I'm up torn between lifeguard 5, Pentosin ATF1 and either AMSOIL Signature Series or OE ATF.

I've read a bunch of threads saying using anything buy lifeguard 5 or ATF1 will shorten service life, which I could live with knowing I have fresher fluid every 30-50k miles. The car currently has about 165k on it, looking to keep this car a good while.

Any input is great.

When I had my 328 XDrive I used Pentosin.

Depends on the version of the ZF 5HP. Technically it's LifeGuard5 (LG5) for all 5HP except for the 5HP18 with a black type plate (whatever that means).

5hp19 here. also found a Ravenol change kit seems enticing, I know they're a good oil supplier.

Stick to LG5. Those 5HP are bit iffy around fluid.

Ya. I mean this unit is essentially a 20 yr old design so.

FCP Euro sells an OE (LG) OEM (Pento ATF 1) and other (Redline).

Thanks guys, went with Pento since that seems to be best alternative replacement thats not $20+ a quart.
