2001 Silverado 1500 T-Case Fluid

Going to replace the Transfer Case fluid soon. Originally spec'd Dex III. Obviously that is obsolete and replaced by Dex VI. But for the Transfer Case will Dex VI still work well. I was thinking of going with Valvoline MaxLife ATF. It's an on-the-floor shifter. Not autotrac.

You could use one of the Dex/Merc fluids available...most of the oil companies sell them.

Another good option would be Valvoline's synthetic Transfer Case Fluid.

Maxlife is miles better than the dexIII i would use it and not think twice.

GM never backspecced New Venture T-cases for Dexron VI, They still call for Dexron IIIH which GM sells as Manual Transmission Fluid. A Dex/Merc Fluid will be fine

I used Mobil 1 ATF in a couple GMC's in that era …
