2001 Chrysler LHS diffy change.

I would say wrong. I did my Intrepid diff which has the same trans and diff as your car. After 100,000 miles the oil came out amazingly clean. The diff calls for regular 80W90 oil. I put back dino 80W90 from AutoZone. Has worked fine ever since.Then again it worked fine before. I only changed it because at 100,000 miles I thought it was time.
The diff does'nt require anything special or a heavier oil as you now have.

My car has a 1 qt. front differential capacity and (what I've heard) uses 80w-90 in it. I got it changed at a Valvoline quick oil change the other day (because the mechanic at 5* said it had a 27mm filler plug, valvoline found it was a 19mm) and the tech said to put in synthetic 85-140 because it had a friction modifier that DC diffs need. If I had changed it myself with the pennzoil 80-90 he said I would have got a whine or whirring from the diff. Was he right? Is this OK?

yes, how did you get to it? Where is it? I have been poking around and can't find it on my 99 LHS

You have to take off the front passenger wheel and you should be able to see the fill plug. It has a little green tag around it (which may be difficult to see because how dirty it can get there). This is how I get to it on my 300M so it should be exactly the same on the LHS. Last time I changed it, I used Mobil 1 75W-90 and it had worked fine for at least 10,000 miles.
