2000 Silverado 5.3L oil consumption

I’m about 1k miles into my current OCI using Mobile 1 Full Synthetic. No signs of oil consumption. This week, I will have the updated driver’s side valve cover with integrated PCV installed. After this OCI, I will try Valvoline R&P again just to see if the issue repeats itself.

Yes, there are a few very minor leaks. I added some ATS leak stop to the crankcase.

The updated valve cover has been installed. 1400 miles and no signs of oil usage. Once this OCI is complete, my next OCI I will go back to Valvoline Restore and Protect to see if there is any usage just out of curiosity.

The ol' thicker oil trick, that never fixes anything.

You guys know, these engines with cylinder deactivation technology eat cams and lifters right? This issue is all over the internet slash world. Moral is don't buy any of these Chevy or GM vehicles. Better git rid of yours quick before you are hit with a $12,000 repair bill like we had to digest. First comes oil drinkers then a new engine.

The 5.3 didn’t get AFM untill 08

2007 for GMT900 platform 5.3L's. The 2007 GMT800 Classic trucks did not have AFM.

All LS4 FWD 5.3L's had AFM.
