Well I wanted to keep a close eye on this car since the last sample had 3.5% fuel. I'm guessing it was mostly weather related since this sample was in for much warmer temps and the fuel has gone down.

Doesn't look as nice as my 3.8s, awaiting Terry's interpretation. Please hold off the intake gasket comments.

That thing chewed up oil big time. TBN low and viscosity down to a 20 wr in well under 2000 miles. Looks like this is a GF-4. We'll have to keep our eye on this oil. This may be its first blackeye

I agree it's not the best run, perhaps the fuel and weather are still to hard on it.

However my 3.8 has the same oil in and it shows much better results.

Thanks for the quick response.

Could we maybe assume that Blackstone is to blame again (not trying to pick on them)? Their results lately have been drastically different then Butlers results. Somethin ain't right here.

Drew, I have to agree. Look at the phos and zinc numbers. I just do not think they are that low. The Moly reading between this oil change and the last a way different. I "think" Chevron moly levels are around 130ppm.

This oil was SM GF-4 5w30 from this winter, the last was GF-4 SL 10w30. They were purchased about 6 months apart during the changeover.

You should be flogged for compareing a 3.1 to a 3.8

!! Seriously though the TBN,shearing and high insolubles for the milage has me alarmed. Does this engine have any sludge issues curently or in the past?

Looks pretty clean in the valve cover area. This is the first run on a full dose of LC so there might be some cleaning going on.
