The stock pan has a decent magnet in it as well.

OP is on the right track with his plan.

Going to be keeping her for a while. It'll probably go to my sister since my mother likes newer and is retiring in a couple years so she'll be getting a little more income. The cars not in the worst shape, but it is rusty. Under side is pretty solid, the rockers are mostly there with some surface rust here and there, I think im going to take a wire brush to it and put some chip guard/bedliner on the bottom of the rockers so it helps prevent it from getting worse, and hopefully not make it look terrible. Needs a front fender which I'm trying to find used. Had the car sprayed at carwell last year and I'll be going every year to try and keep it from getting worse. And then there's a little spot by the gas door that is just starting to bubble so its time for a little sandpaper and a little touch up paint. Trying my best to keep this car decent.
