here i go again. from previous thread (http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubb...0_V#Post3489100), we discounted the MFA lab results since it's a) free and b) wide range of results in comparison to ALS and polaris' numbers. This test i did not send a sample to polaris.

Code:
MFA WIX/als

vanadium 13 0

silicon 2 5

sodium 20 3

molybdenum 123 147

boron 154 236

magnesium 99 7

calcium 4229 3540

phosphorus 750 712

zinc 1492 801

tbn 8.7 11.2

v40C 72 53.6

v100C 8.1 9.1

cost free 18.09

It doesn't make sense in MFA's analysis to have 4229 ppm of Calcium, yet only get 8.7 TBN. The Wix analysis is more reasonable.

And what's with MFA's measurement of 1492 Zinc with only 750 Phosphorous? Kind of ridiculous.

That's what I said in a similar thread. It makes you wonder just how accurate any UOA is. It could cause you to run spent oil longer than it should be run. Or dump good oil too soon which would considered wasteful but certainly not as bad as running spent oil. Just be off +/- 10%, or more on tbn like in this example and that could screw everything up in determining how long to run an OCI.
