Hello all,

I was thinking it would be great to have a oil section devoted to 2 cycle oils only. Any thoughts or opinions on this? I am contantly finding new types of 2 cycle oils to try and it would be helpful to have a dedicated section for 2 cycle freaks like me to share knowledge.

Correct... but 2 cycle equipment is in state of decline.

I kind of disagree. It would decentralize the data, IMO. Two cycle engines are of different types and sizes and are used in everything from weedeaters to trains. I think it would be better to discuss them by class rather than by engine type. The needs of a boat motor are different from a chainsaw, which are again different from a large diesel two cycle.

The 2 cycle diesel have an industrial section the marine 2 cycles have the boat section and the yard equipment has the lawnmower section . How many 2 stroke diesels are there in the BITOG viewers that need more 2 stroke coverage than this . Someone working on locomotive or marine 2 strokes will get exact information from the manufacture rather that mostly information others have read from articles on the internet which 98% are invalidated opionin . There are several people who actually know what they are posting and some that probably know and most that really do not.

Anyone else hoarding 2 stroke power equipment? I've added a new string trimmer, (a homeowner grade that I plan to tune with a pipe from a tanaka 47cc racing engine-the clutch will not appreciate that)a used string trimmer which I plan on restoring this winter, and a leaf blower found in a old shed of a friend also to be restored this winter.

Sadly I still have not acquired the Lawn Boy gold pro 10525, but I'll keep searching...

It's an interesting thought, but this has to be weighed against complexity of subforums and ease of navigation on this site. I wonder how much traffic such a subforum would see.

For example, the Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) subforum has only seven threads over the four years of existence. It should probably be merged with one of the other diesel fuel subforums.

I am actually down on my 2-cycle inventory for now. At the present time I only have 2 Lawn Boy mowers, 1 Lawn Boy edger, 1 Stihl Hedge Trimmer, 1 Stihl, 1, Echo, and 2 Solo hand held blowers. I need to get a string trimmer and I've got my eye on a Suzuki powered Toro. Man can't have to many toys.

+1. There are too many forums as it is. I only regularly visit about 10 or 12 of them. There isn't enough time in the day to read all of them.

I own and actively use 17 pieces of two stroke equipment. Make that 18, I just bought a 1974 model 8232 OMC manufactured Lawn Boy two cycle self propelled mower this morning.

Took it home, left it on the tailgate of the pickup and took it apart pretty much to clean, inspect and correct a few previous owner mistakes. Had to fix the governor, clean out 36 years of dirt and debris, disassemble, repair and clean the carb. Put it all back together, took one pull and it fired right up. Made a couple passes in some thick grass and the machine didn't miss a beat. I'm impressed with how light this thing is. It feels half the weight of my Echo two stroke mower (75 lbs.)

Considering how much lighter it is and easier to use, I think the Lawn Boy will now be the trimming mower or choice.

Hello everyone;

just to add yet another very interesting 2 stroke oil:
Mystik Ultimate High Performance - this is a new oil that actually removes old carbon from the piston and cylinder. It's under their "Marine" section. They state it can be used in any 2 stroke engine. I like the high level of corrosion protection, like a TCW-3 oil, but still good for high rpm and temps. I called them and asked if it is ester and they said yes it is ester.

"Mystik Ultimate High Performance - this is a new oil that actually removes old carbon from the piston and cylinder."

That's a lofty claim! Did they say what or how it performs said task?
