Thanks. I plan on changing the oil in the next week or two so that I can start fresh and monitor any oil consumption. I'm planning to do 3k OCI, send it off for analysis then do an ARX cleaning and then another 3k OCI to send off...before and after.

Everyone always says the B18 is notorious for burning/consuming oil, and mine doesn't consume a single drop in over 3,000 miles.

Well of course. That's because most everyone out there that still has a b16/b18/h22 equipped car more than likely beats the snot out of it. Hitting VTEC frequently = oil consumption. If you drive yours easy then you should'nt have near as much consumption, if any at all.

Also, what's with the n00b "10w-30 is more stable cuz I heard it from somewhere" comments? I figured that someone with that many posts on this board would know better than to reply with such ignorant comments

Well that's what I thought it was, because of a smaller range between the numbers, that it would possibly be more stable. I could've sworn I remember reading that somewhere, or perhaps it's just old folk lore that I read? Didn't intend to mislead anyone, because I wasn't sure when I said that.

i got a 2000 civic dx currently with 115k and all i did is a consistent 5k OCI with M1 5W-30, but im switching to Amsoil 5W-30 for the very first time on its next oil change, and still do the 5k oci religiously.

ummm, 10w30's have better Noack numbers vs 5w30's of the same brand/grade, which means less volatile, which can = "stability"

Well of course. If you pull 2 specific oil grades from the same brand out it's much easier to tell the difference...

What got me was the blanket statement though. It's like saying, "Yeah. 93 octane gas is better than 91." Well, maybe. It helps to know where it's coming from though

Look, I never claimed to be an expert on things. I was simply trying to help, and if there's something that I don't know for a fact, i'll say something like "correct me if i'm wrong" or "I think", and I apologize if the information was misleading.

With 107K miles, has the Timing Belt been changed yet?
dunno.gif

Yes! The previous (original) owner provided all the work receipts which included replacing the timing belt, water pump, coolant flush & transmission fluid about 7k miles ago.
