1997 Chevy long bed. Original owner. Excellent condition. This truck was meticulously maintained by mechanic owner. Never used for towing. Used for commuting. Mobil 1 oil changes since new. Engine is super smooth and runs like the day it came off the assembly line. Good tires, everything works. No oil consumption, no leaks. New cooling system. Transmission regularly serviced with fresh fluid. Diamond plate tool box and running boards. Only flaw is a crack in dash, covered with aftermarket cover. $6500 Located east of Houston TX, can work with delivery out of state.

How many Texas miles?
You'll have no trouble unloading that honey of a truck.
185K. I have had some trouble. A few idiots have approached me with a variety of stupid things...

I hope the right person comes along. Its an excellent ruck that was well cared for, and never worked hard. The tool box was just for storage, like grocery bags, WalMart items, luggage and such.

My first truck was a ‘96 extended cab short bed, so basically the same length. Loved that truck. Unfortunately I don’t need a truck.

5.0L or 5.7L? Do you know the gear ratio in the rear end?

4.3L V6. Its the 350, less two cylinders.
4.3 is a good engine. I see it is the Vortec, that added a nice bump over the TBI. Spider injection though?

Following on @Nick1994 question, the glovebox should have the RPO codes. If that is missing, you could type the VIN here and find the code for the axle, along with all the options. I found some other GM product to get a VIN to find this:
1767962419572.webp

On other trucks I've looked at, if the G80 isn't there, it seems to lack this PAX code, although all trucks should have an axle code--not sure if they always come up as RAX but you get the idea. I would think that a 4.3 in that vintage would be a 3.42 in a 2WD but that's just a guess. 3.73's would be about best, JMHO, 4.11's might actually be too deeply geared. Opinions and all.

Of course, after it leaves the factory owners can do whatever, but since most don't mod their vehicles, whenever I'm in the mood to look at GM trucks, this is what I go to to find out the all important axle code.

Good luck with sale.

Thats a good looking truck but I don't know about the $6500 price tag.

The GMT400 market is insane these days. If they are in decent shape, their value has doubled compared to about 7 years ago when I was buying and selling them fairly often... and they're 7 years older now than they were then...

I've seen rusty old 70 model Ford trucks selling for that much lately. I know a vehicles value is whatever someone will pay but everything lately is way over priced. Myself I would rather pass the old stuff on to a young person to take care of at a price they can afford like they did when I was young.

I could do $6000, but I'll just keep it after that. Not in any panic to sell, $5000 buys junk. This truck is not junk.
Today's market is insane. I don't know what's wrong with everybody. How are these young people going to get their piece of the pie if the rest of us don't do for them what was done for us?

Our Fleet acquired several hundred equipped exactly like this. The only issues were intake leaking coolant into the engine and fuel pump failures. We replaced both as mileage driven preventative maintenance. Other than that, tough trucks. They were rather thirsty. More so than any we had that were ordered with 5.7 V8s. The V8 trucks trailered lawn mowing equipment for our landscape division.

Its a beautiful truck. If I didn't already have 4 trucks, most rolling projects, I would scoop that up and put a set of SS wheels and tires on. Sweet little summer rig. The GMT400 trucks were perfect for summer days with windows down.
