Would like to find out what the Mopar Type MS 9714 transmission fluid equivalent is. My Neon has a manual trans and I am thinking about changing the fluid. It's got 240,000 miles on it.
I changed out the MT fluid on my Saturn, I wanted to use OEM stuff but decided to use Amsoil ATF which was recommended on their site for my car. Now I cannot find the page that specified which car needs what, but you can email them and they will tell you which one works best for your car. http://www.amsoil.com/products/transmission/transfluid_rec.aspx
Year and engine of the Neon would be good. Still have an OM in the glovebox? - it should list all fluid specs with equivalents if available.
UPDATE: I just did a search and the neon site lists and analysis of the oil and lists Pennzoil Synchromesh as an equivalent. I guess later neon transmissions (2001 up?) used ATF+4.
Yes, year is in the title, "1996 Neon ...", engine is 2.0 DOHC but it doesn't use Mopar MS 9714 the transmission does and the owner's manual says "use Mopar MS 9714 or equivalent" which is what I want to find, the equivalent.
Thanks for your help.
