I have a 93 Nissan Sentra with a 4 speed automatic. I was doing a pan drop and drain so I could change the filter and replace a gasket. I could not get the filter off. It had about 12 screws holding it to the valve body and all but 1 screw came off. The one that couldn't come off kept spinning so I just sprayed the filter (screen) with some brake cleaner and just replaced the gasket to the pan. Of course I cleaned the 2 magnets that were in the pan. Does anyone know if the trans have a nut and bolt holding the filter in place?

Nissans usually have ONE that is a nut n'bolt. If you have the nut, you'll have to hold the threads while loosening it. If you have the free spinning bolt, you'll need to drop the VB to get at the other end where the nut is. Sometimes this means it was installed incorrectly at the factory or during a transmission rebuild.

Yes they have one bolt with a nut on the end. I have a Sentra as well I had the same issue.
