Exotic car that is lacking an exotic engine. Hard to get excited revving up that tepid Honda V6.

Game changer? Yes. The world had never heard of an exotic car you could drive everyday like a regular car.

Problem is, NSX's will remind you way too much of driving a regular car.

The "slanted Accord" interior is the worst part, to me. So plain and Honda-like that it makes a man long for the weird and disorganized interior of other period exotics.

You don't compare 25 years old technology with current one.

One example: 1991 laptop vs cheapest 2016 tablet.

A good 1991 laptop was more than $1000 and very bulky/heavy and it couldn't do much. A cheap 2016 tablet is below $200 and can do a lot more for you compares with 1991 laptop.

1991 NSX is still looking nice today, its performance isn't as good as newer performance cars of today, but it was the best in early 90's compares with the best of Porsche, Ferrari ...

As a testament to just how far Honda pushed the envelope with its 1991 Acura NSX, compare it with the most sophisticated machinery of today. That first NSX’s 3.0-liter V-6 made 270 horsepower and revved gloriously to its 8000-rpm redline. Almost 18 years later, BMW’s direct-injection 3.0-liter (in the Euro-only 330i) makes 268 horsepower.

The NSX’s lightweight aluminum sheetmetal surrounds a fascinating 3000-pound wedge that still looks fresh today (if you don’t count the tiny 15- and 16-inch wheels). Combined with first-rate comfort and ergonomics, and a docile, aluminum-intensive unequal-length control-arm suspension, it’s easy to see how the NSX quickly won our hearts as well as a distinguished victory over a Porsche 911, a Corvette ZR-1, and a Ferrari 348ts in a 1990 comparison test.

If you made up a list of mandatories for your Eroticar, then drove an NSX, you'd swear that Honda had snuck a peak at your list.

You'd specify a brilliant engine, one with big power and nice noises and a redline as high as a phone number. The NSX's V-6 is exactly that. It's terrifically flexible around town at 1500 rpm, and it just gets stronger and stronger all the way to eight grand. The music it makes as it climbs would be a hit on CD.

The winning NSX has it all: stunning looks, a comfortable and inviting cockpit, a rev-forever engine that's perfectly happy motoring around town, and confidence-inspiring handling.

What more could you ask?

Honda revitalized the motorcycle market in the sixties and reshaped the small-car market in the seventies. Now it's going to teach the world how to build Learjets for the ground.

I was comparing it to other period exotics.

The fact that it is compared to an entry level Ferrari and entry level Porsche should say enough.

It was an entry level exotic without any of the exotic feel or experience.

There's a reason why Porsche sold almost as many 911's in any 3 combined years of the 90's as Honda ever sold NSX's at all.

I remember reading multitudes of articles in the 1990's trying to convince people that the NSX was this really worthwhile car. The public in general quickly realized that it was a V6 Honda, and shopped elsewhere.
