What oil have you run in it those 2-3 years of ownership and how often it was changed?

Most of the 3 years I've had it, it's been sitting in a junk pile, I only mowed like maybe 3 or 4 times with it before it blew up. I had put Rotella T4 15W40 in it, and apparently when I picked it up and got it running again, the oil came out of it looking like tar and there wasn't as much as there should be, https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/t...t-small-engine-oil-change.128191/post-6475128

. Showed people to maintain their push mowers better. I always got a good 4 years from a trash picked mower. All of them were neglected when it came to OCI's. But, I did the OCI's more frequently, and extended their lives. I mean, 20oz of oil is cheap... Yes, they were rappin and blow by, but you find ways to keep em going. You're 1st mistake with that machine was trying to get it running after 3-4 years of 15W40 in it. And the level was too low. You should have topped it off with something, anything, vegetable oil even. Then hit it with starting fluid,,and give her a spin on the flywheel.

Then hit it with starting fluid,,and give her a spin on the flywheel.I didn't try to get it running again, it's been sitting waiting to be scrapped for a few years, I used it to mow a few times in 2023 after I trash picked it, and I was in the middle of mowing and it just stopped running, no bang or anything, just no compression, tried to restart it, and it just turned over with zero resistance. I figured whatever was wrong with it wasn't worth diagnosing and fixing, so I swapped a different motor o the deck, and threw this motor to the side, and a few weeks ago I finally got the motivation to pull the blade adapter off, luckily it came off with a pittman arm puller I had and I didn't have to brute force it with heat.
Sorry, my mistake.. Read the post wrong. Yeh, most trash picked machines are in the garbage from rich folks who don't wanna get their white collar hands full of engine oil. My bro-in-low is one of those. I live in a well off neighborhood ( not by choice...because the school district is awesome for my 13 yr old daughter. I hate all my neighbors...every one of them. I grew up in The Bronx ) Anyway, every Sept is bulk trash. There are at least 50 machines at the curb. Never bought a push mower yet. I can actually pick out the best ones if I get out there early enough !!! Just drive around for 30 minutes and I got a machine. Now, come April, another bulk pick up. 2 stage snow blowers all over the place...Hate rich people, but like their garbage
You guys are tough on people who make a good living. My wife and I are probably considered wealthy by most counts but I do my own work around the house and maintain my machines. My lawnmower is 10 years old and replaced a snapper that died after a mere 35 years of service. Many people who have money have it, don’t flaunt it, and keep it because they know how to be sensible. Many others who appear wealthy are often the “big hat, no cattle” types.

The previous neighbor left the riding mower behind. The new neighbor doesn't even use it. It just sits in the shed. He's fairly young, in his late 40's, retired. I asked him, why you have lawn service if you have 2- 20 something year old sons, or why can't you just cut it. He said ME ?!?!?! MY SONS ?!?!?! NEVER !!!!!!!! We don't do that kind of menial work ! These are the type of people I'm dealing with. NONE of my neighbors cut their grass, or work on their cars, nothing. Bunch of snooty uppity ups who think their crap don't stink. Sorry if I offended you....will you be my neighbor ?

I make them help so that when they are older and have their own homes they are not helpless- change oil on the equipment, clean and help maintain the truck they drive, make the beds before school, walk the dogs etc. Ideally they will have good jobs and have the option to hire help when they are older but if they have done these things themselves they will be better equipped to appreciate what goes into a task. You're a good parent. Not too many of those around anymore either. Had my daughter up at 7am pullin weeds under the arborvitae trees during a heat snap here in NY. Told her, hard work won't kill you. Preparing you for the real world ( she's 13 ). Mommy and Daddy aren't gonna take care of you forever. She gets her working papers in Feb when she turns 14. Party's over. I got her an 06' Camry LE. Been slowly restoring it ( rust belt took it's toll underneath ). At 16 I'll give it to her. BUT...she pays the insurance and the gas. That's more than I ever got at her age...( Daddy will maintain it though, she's a good kid )
