1987(?) Schwinn Cimmaron spotted

Saw this bike at the library today. It was Schwinn's top model mountain bike in the mid 80s. The top and down tubes are ovalized and fillet brazed to the headtube and the seat cluster and bottom bracket are lugged. My first mountain bike was a 1986 Schwinn Sierra, 2 steps down from this bike. This survivor is doing town duty for someone now with a mix of parts. Good to see it still in use.

Does anyone remember the Deore deer head parts? That's a small 6 spd freewheel!

That reminds me of my first bike, a late 80’s red Schwinn Enduro 5-speed with 22” wheels. I found a pic online of an identical bike, though I do still have mine. My son used it for a while but now he’s 14 and 5’9” so it’s a bit small.
