17mm hex allen wrench tool uses?

Hello

I have a 17mm hex allen tool used to remove the transmission / transaxel manual transmission oil fill and drain plus for the first generation water cooled VWs, think 1975-1985 VW Rabbit.

I no longer have the vehicle and have the tool sitting around.

Are there any other popular automotive uses for a 17mm hex allen wrench? I am thinking of passing it on but would keep it if I thought I would use it.

VW axle bolts, transmission drain and fill plugs are 2 uses that come to mind. Definitely not a tool I use every day but a tool I need in my box

Mercedes freeze plugs. Mercedes axle (or, that might be a 14mm, can’t remember). Either way, keep it.

It fits transmission drain and fill plugs on VW's at least till 91 and Porsche's too May also fit Audi.

European vehicles use them and not just cars. Fill and drain plugs on the Mercedes tranny in our 2004 Freightliner truck need the 17 mm .

Back in the 1970s I had a Porsche and had to buy that size wrench, The Porsche is long gone but the wrench remains. I am going now to look for it !

I had forgotten. I have the NV3500 in my truck and it uses the 17mm key.

Fits my classic air cooled VW transaxle. That’s the only time I’ve found a use for it but I’m sure there are other things it will fit too.
