16oz. MMO to start with?

I've noticed some recommendations to start out with 16oz. of MMO in engine treatment scenarios. I was able to get in about 10 without any problem and not going past the supposed max indicator on my car's dipstick and wonder if that would be sufficient for the initial treatment or if I need to go ahead and get it to 16oz. total? If so, I suppose I could replace the current filter and go at it that way...

But I am presently at the end of my OCI, and thought I'd push it another 500-1,000 miles with this first MMO usage and then do the full oil/filter change. At that point I am presently planning on replacing a full quart of new oil with a quart of the MMO for at least the next interval, and then perhaps scale it back to half a quart at the OCI and another half shortly before the end of the OCI. (As well as going to a larger filter for as long as the MMO is in play.)

It seems to be a rather flexible and safe product to use in the oil - but just wonder why there is this preference to "start slow"?

Can anyone clarify this?

BTW ~ I also have some of it working in the power steering as of this past weekend and am liking it thus far.

I use MMO in my Fuel at the rate of 3 OZ per 10 GAL seems to be the correct ration for 2004 Hyundai accent 4 Cyl 1599 CC , As for MMo in crank case Ive started slow 2 OZ 1st week / 2 Oz in the 2nd week, This was using GTX with oil Capacity or 3.5 Qts. I would start of at 7-10% MMo to see, and start a SLOW cleaning. From what I have heard MMO in too high of a proportion CAN dilute an oils viscosity.

I think the Start Slow process might have started here on Bitog, getting people to ease into using MMO, not a bad idea either. 10 Ounces IMO is a little light a dose to do any real cleaning. Being 6 ounces past the full mark shouldn't be a problem either I often run my Aerostar 1/2 qt over. But if you're not comfortable being 6 ounces over then by all means don't. If that's the case, just finish up the OCI and follow the game plan with the up coming OCI. Or if you like and it is easy to do, remove the filter, dump it and reinstall it toping up with MMO and oil to get the desired amount to complete this OCI. Just check for leaks, I've done that w/o any problems as well.

I usually suggest that people who have never used the product as suggested by MMO do a full OCI with it during the winter. Then they'll really reap the benefits of easier cold starts and an engine cleaning. But it can be safely used any time of the year.

Thinking more about this, and considering that my engine has already seen the Auto-Rx routine, I'd agree that the 16oz. is probably where I need to be for a start. Replacing the filter is now on my To-Do list...

As far as the gas tank goes, I've used Lucas UCL for a couple years now, and have reused their bottles for testing the MMO - alternating between the two at each fill-up. I find it interesting that others have settled on a MMO/fuel ratio less than the manufacturer recommended level to supposedly be optimal in their own application - especially in light of MMO's earlier 6-ounce product packaging that I found at Big Lots awhile back. That was a set of (4) 6oz. bottles designed to be used as (1) per tank fill.

If a 12oz. beer on an empty stomach isn't a crime, an extra 6oz. of MMO pushing the line on the dipstick isn't either... So in it went and we're now up to snuff (16oz. in the sump) .

I wish I could use beer logic on all my other problems!
