Thanks for the reminder. I just ordered another pair. $11.95+$4.95 shipping. I had to get new pair of motorcycle riding sunglasses. My others are grey and I wanted an Amber pair as well.

wow you must be a balla! You went for the 11.95 pair?!?!? I could only afford the 6.95. What do you do for a living?

Bump. Anyone else use Zenni? I'm thinking about trying them. I've never gotten a pair of glasses that was 100% to my liking, so I may as well pay 50 bucks for high index lenses/frames with all the bells and whistles instead of 300 for crummy poly carb lenses and rip off priced frames at a local place.

I forgot about this thread. but I have vision insurance that I need to use by 12/31st to get some new glasses and exam. My cheap glasses are at least 6-7 years old and scratched. does anyone know if you have to spend a certain amount in glasses to use your vision insurance? the ones I have I bought as a walk in special for under 99 bucks with exam but that was without vision insurance.

Daughter in law ordered glasses from Zenni. She's satisfied.

I've seem something the other week that I'm interested in.

They were plain sun glasses with 'bi-focal' inserts.

Just the ticket if you need/use reading glasses like I do.

I don't tend to break frames, I usually buy pretty nice ones and am out the door for $450-$600.

Problem with cheap frames is they usually look it, I know I can spot $100 frames from across the room.

I have prescription sun glasses as well, my old ones are done so I'm in the market for another set. I'm going to get a set of Costa Del Mar's with my lenses.

I needed new glasses this past summer, shopped around at some of the local eyeglass/optometrists and called on a few of the "deals" they advertise in the Sunday paper. Frames, no-line bifocal lenses, lens coating, exam and all would have cost me anywhere from $350.00 to $450.00, for one pair of glasses.

I have a $20.00 co-pay for a yearly eye exam through my health insurance. I went to a good local eye doctor, got the prescription and ordered my new glasses from Zenni. I could not be happier with the glasses and the ordering/sales process with Zenni. I uploaded a picture of myself on their site and used the "try on" feature, found a frame I liked and ordered my new glasses online. I got new no-line, lightweight plastic lenses, a nice modern stylish frame, anti-reflective lens coating, a clip-on sunglass piece, a hard case and a very nice lens cleaning/polishing cloth all for $68.00 shipped. I did have to stop in at Walmart and they adjusted my new glasses for me for free.

Zenni was great from start to finish. It did take about 2 1/2 weeks to receive my glasses but it was well worth the wait. It takes longer to grind no-line bifocal lenses. They even emailed me when they shipped the package to me. Now I just use my "good" glasses in the house, at work here in my office, etc. My old beat-up glasses are now my "work" glasses. I wear those when doing yard work, changing oil, cleaning the house, etc.

Zenni is great. I would have posted here about it myself but there were already a few posts about Zenni to begin with.

I've never used Zenni but have had excellant results with

I no longer have a need to impress anyone other than myself. Four hundred frames--Twenty dollar frames, no difference to me!

Money in my pocket impresses me.

I think your vision may be impaired due to bad glasses.

I had mine checked by my optometrist and he said they meet all specs.

Another testiment to Zenni Optical. I ordered the $12.95 stainless steel full-rim frame with spring hinges and they fit perfectly. No adjustment needed.

And I got them only 10 days after I placed my order. My vision (near sightedness) is not that bad. I only need them for driving. And no problems at all with optical quality.

What is the name of the lens that is very 'thin' compared to the thicker coke bottle type standard lens ????

High Index lenses.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I have a related question. I don't wear glassses or contacts, but I'm getting to the point where I need some reading glasses. I've seen these sold in department stores, etc., for pretty cheap. Is it OK to buy these things? I think your close-up vision gradually changes once you get to some point in your 40's or 50's, so do you constantly need to keep buying stronger lenses, or what? I would appreciate some input from anyone who has gone through this process?

If you need reading glasses as you get older, you don't need a special prescription. The ones in the stores are just fine.

They are usually +1.25, +1.50, and up. For me, it has just stayed at +1.50 for years now.

But you should try and get them at your drug store as they typically have an eye chart and a mirror so you can find the right strength for your eyes.

If your prescription isn't too strong, don't go with the highest index lenses; a 1.57 mid index plastic should be fine. The lower the index, the higher the optical quality.

If you're [censored] near blind like me, higher index lenses work good because they're thinner and lighter. If I had glass lenses, they'd be a half inch thick!

I received my glasses today from Zenni. No kidding; best pair of glasses I've ever had! $33 bucks including shipping. Frame quality is good, prescription is perfect, optical quality is amazing. I went with 1.57 index plastic lenses instead of polycarb. I think that has a lot to do with the optical quality; I've always had poly.

However, now I know why they're so cheap: MADE IN CHINA. Even the lab is in China.

You know what, for the [censored] quality I've received locally for $400 bucks, I think I'll let this one slide as far as not buying USA.

I'm looking at my recent eye exam (prescription) and they did not put the pupilary distance (PD). May I should use the 70 figure since 95% of males are around 70 ?
