"You're lucky -- that both you and the car survived!

I was driving my 280CE Mercedes, a Euro gas-engine coupe, in central southern Colorado one day about ten years ago. A smooth two-lane road without any shoulders to speak of, it ran straight as a string between fenced-off grazing land. So I decided to test the MB and run it up to 100.

I was roaring along nicely (I was nervous, but the car was doing fine) when I spotted a sign:

WATCH FOR BISON ON ROAD

Whoa, Nellie --! Do you know how big a bison is? If I hit even a small one, no matter the speed, the car and I would be toast . . . but at a lower speed I might see him in time to avoid him. So I slowed way down.

Never did see any bison wandering the highway, and boy, was I glad.

(It's also cheering to realize that your car was still driveable after the deer strike. More and more the Ford Fusion sounds like a solid car.)"

yeah a bison is still bigger than the bull i hit (one of the posts on this thread)...yeah it was 3000lbs black angus the 92 aerostar was done!

Figure out who is the best body shop in the area and let them work their magic. Insist on only new OEM metal panels and new parts... because the car is new.

Yeah the body shop already said they want to fix one small dent in the quarter panel. I am gonna quiz him monday morning about if he plas on using any bondo in that spot...if he says yes i will be asking for a new panel. its right where the guy from the lease company put his magnet when he was inspecting the last fusion. So if i want a good resale value i want new panels.

I have done digging and found better prices than the body shop for a black chrome grille (part of the sport appearance pkg) and another option. One place has a grille that i can get painted whatever colour i want (but i think i am done with a plastic grille) any comments?

You live in Elk Point. It's high time to change the name to Deer Point.

PS: I love venison. Dunno about elk...

Elk is TASTY.

+1
I have a freezer full of elk...lol seeing that i am from elk point

Where I live in my town we get 2-300 deer strikes a year. This has been for several decades. The police and insurance companies no longer even require police reports. You just call in the hit and take the car to the repair shop. In the past 10 years I have hit 3 and the wife hit a 350lb buck which almost totalled her Durango. I see a deer here everyday. In 1970 the deer population in NE Ohio was 70,000. Today it is estimated at 750,000 thanks to the bambi lovers here.

Update!
Finally got the car into the body shop on monday morning. I should get her back tuesday morning.
I decided against the black chrome grille but did decide to get primed fog lamp bezels and they will be painted to match the car. I looked at one with my color and the paint to match next to one with the black chrome sport appearance package (chrome bezels too). I really liked the painted ones over the chrome.
