10W 40 in 4 cycle engine

Can I use 10w30 or 10w 40 in my 4 cycle TroyBilt trimmer?

I would use highly additised lawn eqpmnt oil or proper hdeo in this type of equipment in the weight rec by the manufacturer. I would not use a vii compromised PCMO in this equipment.

I would stick with a 30wt HDMO. It only holds about 3.2 oz. I used to have a TB trimmer 4 stroke. I only used 30wt. A 3.50 bottle of Pennzoil HD 30 will last a long time. I went back to a 2 stroke, as the higher RPM cuts tall weeds better for me.

I used 5w40 and 15w40 in mine when I owned it. I didn't care for the trimmer and replaced it with a Husqvarna 2-stroke.
