Picked up a MINT ‘22 XLT302A 4x4 3.5EB CCSB. 69k on the clock, perfect maintenance history at local Ford dealer. I know the 10R80 sucks, I didn’t wait on a ‘23 because I got a good deal on it. That being said, I know this won’t prevent CDF failure, but planning on sucking out 4/5qt of ULV from dipstick and replacing with exact amount new ULV plus 10oz of LubeGard Platinum?????? Truck shifts great but has a minimal shake in 10th gear at low RPM. Don’t believe it’s an issue as much as I’m trying to be proactive. Thoughts? Anybody done anything similar? Gentleman who owned it used it to haul golf clubs, never had a trailer behind it.

Why not complete a full service and add the Lubegard?
I highly doubt it needs a filter, it drove 30mi each day to a golf course. It didn’t pull, it didn’t spend time in stop and go traffic etc. plan on doing that around 100k

Yeah, but its nice to see what's in the pan. Does the pan have a drain plug? Good time for an upgrade.

I’ve used lubegaurd red at 1/4 dose in my 10R80 with great success. Frankly, I used 1 quart of amsoil signature series low viscosity (LV) fluid for every 3 quarts of valvoline ULV, with the partial dose of LG red, and that cured some true nastiness. If I were to do it now, I would simply use amsoil’s new ULV (PM @Pablo here) along with a partial dose of LG.

Note, the transmission will need to relearn the fluid. Normally one option is just to “drive it out” but Ford’s adaptives can indeed get confused sometimes and pretty much require a reset. IDK how easily that’s done in a ‘23… i had an ‘18 and Forscan made easy work of it. Fluid change, reset the adaptives, take it for a drive.

So yes, evacuate the fluid out, and refill with fresh. And note, the 6 speed “dipstick” will work in this unit. Google around for info there. Used a CLOSED END 19mm wrench to break the soft aluminum fill nubby loose.

I would say its up to you if you want to pull the pan or not. The filter in the 10R80 is a nice piece, and should hold quite a bit of debris. I replaced mine in the Ranger at 30k just because I was putting on a new pan at the time.

Since no pan exists for my Powerboost, I haven't decided on when I'll replace the filter. It will be somewhere between 60 and 100k though. I'm just holding out hope that someone will make a pan for it.

Otherwise, drain and fill is certainly better for nothing, but I would do another one in 5-10k.
