I upgraded to a PPE pan and Amsoil ULV on my 24 Sierra 1500 14.5k miles. I used 8 qts out of 12 qts capacity. Now with new pan its 14.5 qts. Anyways that roughly equates to 67% fresh fluid in the system. Should I leave it as is or just do another drain and fill? Part of me wants to enjoy Amsoil performance the other parts is saying 67% is good enough for another 20k till the next drain and fill. Money is not an issue however $57 a gallon with about 2 being needed seems a bit wasteful. I'm on the fence 50/50!

I am running the same exact pan on a 24 Tahoe. But Dex ULV. Did it at 19k. At 23K now.

Post back sometime how your results with the Amsoil ULV are. I am sure it’ll do great.

The PPE pan is a nice piece.

Definitely leave it in. 1 spill and fill at a time is good unless you have a trashed transmission you need to try to save kind of like this example which amazes me how it still works as he posted an update. But at 14k you could have reused the fluid if the sump pan and drain pan were both super clean so dirt couldn't get in it but i wouldn't go through that hassle.

I’d say you’re probably fine. I’d get into a rhythm of every 25-30k doing a drain and fill and every 50k-60k replacing the filter.

I’d be interested in to see if your transmission temps change at all.

I'll definitely be taking samples after the next drain & fill to make sure most of the old fluid is gone to keep the results honest. PPE pan is fantastic. However I refuse to use their supplied cheap hardware. Their hardware is made out of clay. For both the transmission and diff pan PPE upgrade I ordered my own stainless hardware.

Man that pipe is close to the pan. I wonder if some header insulation tape would keep your fluid temps down.

Compared to my old 2019 Silverado 1500 with the 8L90 this 10L80 runs real cool. 145-155 def F high way. I've never seen it go past 168 def F towing.

I plan on using similar fluid interval depending on my mileage. However I will not touch the filter for a very long time. Prob 100-125k+ due to how time consuming it is!

Either would be OK.

Personally I would drive it 5K-10K miles then do a DnF. Then 20K miles DNF. After that you should be good for a long time.

I had forgotten 2024 was ULV ATF.
I'll prob do a short interval like you mentioned. The factory fill plug was welded in there with some sealant. Near stripped the thing removing even with Popeyes help! Took 2 hours and Kroil. I'd like to swap the plug at some point before it gets sets in with so many heat cycles.

Ahh very cool. Yeah the Alan bolts kinda stunk. I did install them. But I can see in NY here the bolts being a bear to get out in X amount of years. What hardware did you use with the PPE Pan? I’ll do the same.

And forgive my ignorance. You used a PPE diff cover as you prob have no drain and solid axle on the truck, right? I do have a drain and fill on the IRS diff.

Now I gotta look if that one company finally made the front diff cover with drain.

I have GM front and AAM rear diff. None have drains. I look forward to PML releasing front diff cover someday. Here is the transmission hardware:

I replaced the pan on my 2023 Sierra 1500 Baby Duramax about June 2024. The drain plug that PPE has is worth the price alone. I didn't have an exhaust pipe to worry about so that gives me a couple extra quarts. This reminds me, I should do a DnF before the cold weather sets in.

I went through the exact same thinking last weekend, swapping in 6 quarts of amsoil into the ‘24 taco. I had 3 quarts remaining and could have driven 5 miles and swapped out the 3 quarts. Decided against it - the majority is now far more robust, and in 50k an inline filter should be considered. Possible - install filter, drive 100 miles, swap the fluid again, and with amsoil that aisin transmission should be set to go a very long time.

100% agree. Sucks for me that the 10R80MHT is different from the standard 10R and none of the aftermarket pans will work.

OP - Just drain and fill on a regular schedule, you'll be fine.
