The low oil light has been flashing on the Zip 50, so that's 1,700km to a litre of oil. On premix it would've used twice that or more, so the oil pump is sure more economical. That was Castrol TTS synth FD, which smells like some old mineral oil, I'm putting in the last of the Penrite semi synth FC I was premixing, which has the acrid synth 2 stroke smell.

Oil pumps on two strokes usually add oil in varying amounts. Under high load fuel/oil mixture will contain a higher percentage of oil. During low load operations is when oil is conserved. Sounds like your scoot is working very well.

You can still buy a brand new Zip 50 2 stroke here. You need a 2 stroke at 50cc, a 4 stroke is dangerously gutless.

Yeah, buddy! One of my favorite bikes of days gone by was a Suzuki TS250 two stroke I had in the mid 70's. Man, I liked that bike. Lot's of fun. Even Kawasaki, I think it was back then, had a 3 cylinder, two stroke, road bike that was a screamer and looked great.

Works out somewhere around 60:1, close to the 50:1 I used for premix. But I seem to have used more oil from the bottle I used for premix than that, my only other 2 stroke is the weedeater - one of life in the shed mysteries.

there is a reputable company currently offering high quality 2 stroke 50cc scooters...Genuine Scooter Company offers variants of the Buddy 50 & Roughhouse 50 scooters...they are easily derestricted with changing out a flow ring at the exhaust mount, offer 2-year unlimited mileage warranties, and manufactured by PGO in Taiwan; when de-restricted after a proper break-in 45+ mph top speed is possible...

last year I was considering a new Buddy 50 or Roughhouse 50 but snagged a leftover 2013 Buddy 125 for less $$$...

The H2, from the early to mid 70s was a 748cc two stroke beast. Ah, bean oil!
