ON, Canada eh?
Just heard it on the news this morning... Nissan is recalling all 2009 & 2010 Nissan Cube's for fuel spillage concerns when in a crash.

Quote:

NISSAN IS RECALLING MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 NISSAN CUBE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM JANUARY 30, 2009 THROUGH JULY 30, 2010. THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 301, "FUEL SYSTEM INTEGRITY." WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ROTATED FOLLOWING A REAR MOVING BARRIER CRASH TEST AS REQUIRED, THE AMOUNT OF FUEL LEAKAGE EXCEEDED THE ALLOWABLE LIMITS.

FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

DEALERS WILL DEVELOP A SPECIAL PROTECTOR AND ATTACH IT TO THE GASOLINE RECIRCULATION TUBE AT THE LOCATION OF THE FILLER NECK CONNECTOR. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE AUGUST 30, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153)

Just a question.. I don't want to sound offensive or anything... Are there any men on BITOG who actually own this car?

I considered one when I was looking to replace the Malibu. If I didn't have the Cobalt I could probably have justified it as my "toy" but I already have a toy and I felt the Cube was a little too small for my overall needs.

I agree with both of these comments.

Probably not but they might be married to women that have one of these god awful vehicles...

I see a lot of men driving these things along with the Scion Xb one too. a Toy?? Not for me. A Toy is a motorcycle, boat, classic car or truck, Corvette, etc. What happened to the days when men lusted for muscle cars...not literally "econo-boxes"??

But getting back on post...seems like there are always fuel leak in accident recalls in the news. Every automaker has had that one at one time.

We men nowadays are addicted to Soy and other Estrogen enriched foods...that's why you are more manly than most younger men.

I thought the Eclipse was a chick car(no offense to the ladies). But the Cube more so than an Eclipse.

I sat in one of these, as well as 2 models of the Toyota SCION and in all 3 vehicles my knees actually touched the dashboard with the seat all the way back.
I'm not that tall, I'm 6'1", and I was shocked that I see Scions and a few of these Cubes around town.
I figure they are good inexpensive cars for those who are very practical or have a teenager and don't want to purchase something more pricy, but for me is was uncomforable to sit in.

All I know is that if you are ever in one and have a wreck I wouldn't plan on walking again.

I'm torso tall and it's a real $#!@ for me to find a car I can fit in...

It's like the designers are all midgets or something.

I've got a black 09 Cube. It's got tons of head room and is plenty comfortable. Took it on a road trip to the smokies and it handled it fine, averaging about 32MPG. Oh and yes, I'm a male and don't have to compensate. I'll be posting my first UOA from the Cube once it's time to change. Once you sit inside one you'll see its just fine.

yeah, wow... I mean I don't think I would buy it because it doesn't quite match my needs but I'm not sure it makes someone less manly because they think it fits their needs.

Guys, get over yourselves...

yea, the keyboard kommandos come out and talk the talk with the V8 for life mantra, simultaneously eating deer jerky and chest beating. Its old and tiresome to hear. You buy and drive with what works best for you. If you like it this is all that matters. Opinions from others are irrelevant of whether they like or dislike.
