i have a 13k 4.7L Mobil 1 5w-20 OA in the OA forum. did wonderfully. my normal OCI is 10k with 0w-40, at 122k it doesn't use a drop over the 10k interval.

if you aren't willing to go extended (and under warranty i do whatever the manual called for), the mobil 5w-20 driveclean is an excellent oil.

These engines will live long lives on anything viscosity wise. My Moms 4.7 has lived on a steady diet of Mobil 1 15W50 in the warm months and Mobil 1 5W30 dureing the winter since new wich was 2001 or 2002 I think. I have hard time rembering what year her Tundra is.... On a few occassions it has had Mobil 1 0W40 since I had a lot of that on hand and did not fell like buying Mobil 1 5W30 just for her truck at the time. I service the truck for her more often then my Dad does but I normaly try to use what they request unless I am useing what I have on hand. Most of the oil filters on her truck have been Puralator Pure Ones but a few SuperTech's have been used as well as a few Frams when Pure Ones where out of stock.

The 5.7 is no different it is not picky at all. So if you intend on sticking with a 5000 mile or less OCI then I would never recomend an expensive synthetic. I would go with any name brand SM 5W30 or 5W20 and call it good!

I have an '07 bought in Plover,
same engine 4x4.
I have dino(GTX-Penz)and synthetic(PP).
All 5-20
I'm gonna go 4k on dino when warm.
Use synthetic in cooler temps@6k.
I'm in Chicago so the driving might be different.
