I changed the transmission filter and ATF by dropping the pan(cleaning it up rigorously) on my CLK500 at 72k. Did the same thing by just opening the drain plug and drained nearly 4-4.5 quarts at ~78K. It has 722.6 AT and currently at 82k. No issues with shifting and zero problems with transmission, so far.

Question is, what is the possibility of this part(A203 540 0253) needing any replacement? It's an electrical connector for the transmission. I don't see any visible leaks or anything? Is it more like a preventative maintenance item?

Can anyone please share some advice or input? Thanks for the help.

Probably spending some time at a Mercedes forum will get you the answer.

If and when yours leaks, replace it.

Thanks splinter, I can see a leak at the corner where this plugs sits, is that right?

From your picture both of them were leaking or one is new and other one is old?

Can just o-rings be replaced?

Hi maverickfhs,

Yes, 722.6 TCU connector sits just above pan at its right-front corner.

Picture is of old and new. afaik O-rings were previously available separately but EPC now shows complete assembly only.

Actual swap is easy (you'll lose a little ATF), but be gentle as the male pins are quite fragile.
