I wanted to do my own oil change on my 2002 alero 2.2L for the first time since, so then here's what happened. I drained the oil(i think..i don't think it was the transmission) then i had to leave real quick after putting the drain plug back in. And my brother didn't notice and started up the car (without any new oil or filter) and backed up the car for about 3 sec and the car stalled. and now I that i put in the new oil and filter, the car still doesn't start. any advice?

Does the engine spin over but just won't start? 3 seconds of operation with no oil shouldn't kill an engine that quick. With the remote filter on my Dad's truck, it usually takes 5 seconds to register oil pressure after doing an oil/filter change.

OUCH !!!

I doubt the engine is ruined, try to restart the engine with a full sump of oil.

Do you think the oil dried out or something? because I didn't get home until like the day after, and i wasn't aware of what he did til i got home since he didn't call me either..It keeps on doing what happens when you have a dead battery and need a cable to recharge it.

Some cars will kill the fuel pump if there is no oil pressure. It's a safety thing in case of an accident.

After filling it with oil turn the key to "ON" then "Off" 3 or so times then try to start it

Does the engine spin over or not? When you turn the key, does it feel like the engine is locked up and won't spin, or will it spin over via the starter but just won't fire up?

It cranks, but wont fire up. The best I can describe it, being a total amateur at cars besides doing simple oil changes, is that it feels like when you need to jump start your car.

R&R engine.
However, from just a few seconds, that honestly should not be the case... I really can't see that totally destroying the engine.

Some major wear, yes, but catastrophic.. I wouldn't think so!

I tried what Chris142 suggested, and when i started the car, it cranked for about 1-2 sec, then stopped, and i waited about 10-15sec and did it one more time, and on the third try, all the lights went out and it didn't even crank

Did it only run for 3 seconds though, or do you think your brother ran it longer. If you werent there, it may have run longer. If its damaged, the damage is done now, hook the jumpers up and crank it. Your battery may be dead from trying to start it. Does your owners manual say anything about a fuel pump reset button? They are ussually located in the trunk on the side, under a velcro panel. Its a little red button and it will pop out, just reset it.

Correct no damage after three seconds. Likely a fail safe lock-out by the on board computer.

Local BMW dealer had a car stolen from the shop with no oil in engine. and the thief drove for 4 miles (15 Min's) before engine seized and car was abandoned at side of road. You will be fine for 3 seconds...

Alright, I'll have to check tomorrow, cause i have to go buy jumper cables lol, looked around and don't have it how sad. I fail once again. I'll let u guys how it turns out. hopefully just battery and nothing extremely due to my carelessness...
I'll also check for the fuel reset button.
thanks for the help guys, but please keep on giving me advice in case I'm still screwed and need more help.

Try this. Unhook both battery terminals for awhile (to reset any codes it might`ve thrown). Have you refilled with oil? Well,of course fill it up,then try to start. I`m thinking your car has the sealed tranny,so draining the atf would not have been possible.
