Hello. Im new the the BITOG site! My '01 RX-300 still has the original fluid in the transfer case and rear differential. The owners manual call for 1qt(drain & fill), of 80/90 GL-5 in both. After putting my pinky finger in the fill hole, the original transfer case fluid has a light green color and smells like minty ...HMMMM!...I have'nt checked the rear differential yet. I have been changing out the auto trans w/ T-IV from the dealership,($3.75 a qt.)Not bad! Any advise is greatly apprciated on which GL-5 gear oil to use in these units. TIA.

Seeing how you only need one qt. for the t/case and one for rear diff. I would use the best that money can buy. If you check the site sponsor section you will see just such a company! The name of the company is Speciality Formulations. THey use only the best ingredients for the application and do not price engineer for mass market's. They are competitively priced with other premium products!!! They have some of the finest gearlubes around and best of all they have excellent cold temp. property's. Liveing in Rochester NY this will benifit you greatly dureing the winter!!!!

Thanks John...Cost of the fluid isn't an issue as is, getting a solid product for my application. Yes, 1qt. per unit,... thats nothin' ! Thanks again.......CB
