    Ford 5.4 and Jeep 4.0

Analysis of the Analysis, Disclaimer: I don't by any stretch of the imagination proclaim to be an expert in any of this, this is just my personal observation based on my personal experience of being a semi-intelligent human being who can interpret data given to them by another party. I've got...

    2005 F150 5.4 V8, 10K, Redline/GC/Motorcraft Mix

Found this online: Q & A "What are the possible sources of silicon in oil?" Silicon is measured by oil analysis labs to determine dirt ingression. While more often than not, high silicon readings indicate dirt, there are several other possible sources. The four most common are: 1. Defoamant...

    2005 F150 5.4 V8, 10K, Redline/GC/Motorcraft Mix

The silicon *is* high. But as an additive, I'm not too worried. I wanted to ask where that post was that describes every single one of the additives and what their uses are, as well as the metals and where they are commonly found. Thought I saw something like that somewhere around here.

    2006 jeep grand cherokee using Mobil1 5W-30

Harumph, I won't even begin to pretend to know more than you guys as I am just a newB here, but that guy changed his oil three times in less than 7,000 miles!! Y'ought to draw and quarter him just for that! I'm going to throw caution to the wind with my new $36,000 investment and mix my oils as...

    New guy, first oil change

Woops, , checking the manual, only seven quarts, I assumed eight. Now I'll have to take away one of those beautiful quarts pictured, hmmm, maybe I'll save a few nickels, do one quart of redline and add some Havoline to get some of its rich moly in there. Hmmm, the perfect oil brew.

    New guy, first oil change

Mostly a daily driver, not much stop and go as I live out here in the country a bit, but once a month at most I will be trailering my Jeep (approx 4,800 lbs total) up the New Hampshire hills to the trails. I do like the Havoline as well, I plan on running that with a similiar mix in my Grand...

    New guy, first oil change

Actually I've been changing my own oil for 15 years but this is the first change since I found this site. I must say it brings a whole new meaning to the process, and I cannot believe I'm so excited about it. Anyhoo, I got a brand new F150 5.4 Triton that's coming up on its first 5,000, has the...

    2006 jeep grand cherokee using Mobil1 5W-30

(first post ever) I've got a brand new F150 5.4 Triton that calls for 5w-20 as well. I plan on using it....and I will tow with it as well. I recall reading snippits here that imply that todays 5W-20 will remain a 5W-20 after 5,000 miles, where yester-years 5w-30 will shear down to a 5w-20 in...
