Whats my next oil? 05 Highlander 2.4L - 55k miles

2005 Toyota Highlander 2.4L. Had since new. Its only seen "regular" M1 5w30 and has NEVER used a drop in its life. Currently 55k miles. OCI of 2500-4500 based on time and severity. Many trips are short. Blackstone reports about every other OCI with favorable (average or better) results. Filter...

    New 2011 Honda Pilot AWD

My first Honda SUV. This will be a DD for the wife with about 4k miles per year 90% in town, short trips. Wondering the following: 1) How long to go on break in oil? I was planning about 2k miles. 2) What filters do you guys like for this vehicle? OEM? 3) What oil / OCI would you suggest for...

    Mobil 1, 5W30, 05 Highlander, 3k OCI 35500 Miles

Ok, looked around real well for vacuum line issues. I don't see any! I think I'll switch to 6 month / 1500 mile OCI and go from there. Thanks.

No idling. Just short trips. I'll take a look at the PCV valve. How do I diagnose a vacuum leak? Or rather find it?

    Mobil 1, 5W30, 05 Highlander, 3k OCI 35500 Miles

Update. I went and looked at the air box. The air filter seems to fit well. There was some sand in the bottom of the airbox which seems to come right from the air intake pipe. I DO see another mesh filter right behind the air filter. How do I remove/replace this? Could this be part of the...

    Mobil 1, 5W30, 05 Highlander, 3k OCI 35500 Miles

Wow. Thanks for all the quick responses! I'll start looking for a intake leak. Would this be somewhere, I assume, in the air filter box or intake from there? I'll be switching to dino oil on the next change and adding a magnetic plug as well. I plan on keeping the car forever so Id like to...

    Mobil 1, 5W30, 05 Highlander, 3k OCI 35500 Miles

Ive owned this 4 cylinder, 2wd Toyota since new. 90% of its life is short trips around town. Probably most less than 10 miles. Oil analysis does not look to good since I have started tracking it. I change the air filters (cabin and engine) regularly. Trying to decide what oil to change to next...

    How long is too long?

I have a 2005 Toyota Highlander with the 2.4L. I religiously change the oil every 5k with Mobil 1 (5w30) and PureOne filters. Until recently that was about every 4 months. Currently it has 28,000 miles on it. We picked up a 3rd car and now don't drive it much. Im coming up on 10 months with...

    Mazda 6 vs. Honda Accord

Resale is much worse with the Mazda, BUT you can get them highly discounted. Around here I can get $5 to $6k off sticker. If you are going to drive it less than 3 years, get the Honda. If you are going to drive it until the wheels fall off, it doesn't matter.

The Mazda 4 cylinder has a 5 speed auto and the v6 has a nice 6 speed auto.
