New in 2024: Continental VikingContact 8 Studless Winter Tire

I know that sensation. When I went from worn summer goodyears to new michelin pilot sport all seasons on my Focus ST, I had so much squirm on the highway that I thought my rear sway bar was disconnected. Had to lift up the car again just to make sure everything was tight because it felt so...

New in 2024: Continental VikingContact 8 Studless Winter Tire

I have run Blizzak WS90s in 2 very mild Chicago winters and can confirm that winter tires are not good when temps are in the 30s and 40s. Grip is noticeably worse than a good set of uhp all seasons and braking can be a legitimate hazard in rain. That said, we did have one pretty brutal cold...

Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 Plus

Definitely not going to slam you. I'm VERY interested in the FK460s for my brz. I've had Michelin PS AS4s... really liked the performance and the feel of them but they were noisy and not very comfortable. Have also had Continental DWS06+ and they had the noise and comfort thing down with fine...

School me on Ceramic wash and coats

Not really Trying new stuff is fun but I don't think any spray sealants out now are going to give you a "next level" feeling/performance vs the Griots

    Tire Break-In

2 years ago, I went from 5 year old Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 summer rubber to a new set of 500 treadwear Michelin Pilot Sport AS 4s. Everything felt fine leaving the tire shop and then I got on the highway. 65mph and they had SO much tread squirm that I thought the tire place disconnected...

    Car Wash season and products

Meguiars Gold Class is good stuff. Have used for years and will continue to. Bought a few 64 oz jugs when it dropped in price last month. Also picked up 4 bottles of TW Seal N Shine because Advance Auto Parts was clearing it out for $2.35 a bottle. Couldn't pass it up for that price. I'll...

Let's see your summer tire and wheel setups

The ease at which they slide, at very low speeds, is extremely fun. I'm just street driving (my commute is about to shrink to 5 miles round trip) and I don't need max grip nor max treadlife. Steering feel and road noise are my two biggest priorities.

Let's see your summer tire and wheel setups

Super boring OEM. 215 45 17 Primacy HP Wanted to ditch both when I first got the car but I've grown to like the wheels and the Primacys are fun. Only thing I hate is the amount of stretch these tires have. Probably going with Falken 510s next but I am a little wary of adding too much grip...

I don't know what's better - $36 per tire or naming a tire brand Waterfall. I love it.

Average new car price is $50K ? Insanity.

Saw trade in values were absurd and decided to cut bait on the Ford while it was worth so much. Paid 21,500 for the ST in 2016. Got 19,500 in trade 6 years & 45k later. Paid 28,955 for the BRZ. Couldn't pass it up.

Average new car price is $50K ? Insanity.

I said no more new cars after buying a new Focus ST in 2016. Last year I got a great deal on a new BRZ that made me break my own rule so I have no idea what the future holds for me and my buying. That said, the $50k average new car transaction doesn't bother me that much. You can still get...

What do you think of the subaru crosstrek?

I had a Crosstrek as a rental in Washington state last year. Drove about 800 miles, all around Olympic National Park. I ended up loving it. It had the 2.5 +CVT which was completely unobtrusive. Plenty of power and I never felt the CVT. Seating position and visibility were perfect and best of...

    Collinite 845 alternative?

I like this. You've got an option that's a completely bonkers amount of work and an option that's as breezy and simple as it gets. I used to go the crazy route but now go with the easy route. I've been happy with the results.

School me on Ceramic wash and coats

Looks sharp. (y) I've found the same - the spray sealants don't have the depth that a more traditional wax/sealant does. I consider it a fair trade off when its combined with the ease of use and durability.

    Snow tire oops

Can't wait to get my WS90s off. Was going to do it yesterday but I got lazy. I did check the tread depth and after just under 3,000 miles, the fronts are at 11 and the rears are at 7. Oops.
