    Second thoughts about K&N

True👍🏻. Have an AEM or AFM whatever it is dry flow filter in my '20 Ranger. Truck has the excellent gen2 2.3L TGDI motor. Like the long service life.. but doubtful it makes any performance difference! They do claim 2-3hp from dyno results ..will you ever feel that? No. Next filter is the thick...

    Fram Ultra Engine Air Filters

Never been a fan of any Fram products regardless. They cut corners. Too many other good filters to choose from !

    Castrol Edge EP 5w30 2016 Ford F-150 3.5 EcoBoost

Def the best & most proven TGDI motor designs out there! That's my opinion as an engineer of 28yrs.

Yea the arguing on here is a bit much i've noticed as well. We are all a fringe bunch at the end of the day being as concerned w/lubrication/wear/UOAs etc. I'm an engineer by trade & none of my engineering associates engage in these kinds of discussions whatsoever! LOL I love tribology myself...

    2021 Ford Bronco 2.7L Ecoboost Pennzoil Platinum 5W30 - 3800 miles

Why go w/0w40 instead of 0w30? Your engine warranty is 60k mis. It's always advisable to stay w/recommended oil viscosity during the warranty period. Surely Ford wouldn't have any issue w/ 0w30 but 0w40? I wouldn't do it. Also, after such an awesome UOA why switch from Pennzoil >Amsoil? Just...

Best 0w20 to resist fuel dilution in Honda 1.5 TGDI engine? And use in Honda J35 V6s?

Gave ya the general synopsis that this particular honda engine has possible design flaws..an one doesn't need be an engineer to come to that assumption either.

I say possibly Gen2 3.5EB..though I've said before & will say again the Gen1EB performed very well for an early design. Far less issues then other manufacturers earky TGDI motors. Millions still on the rds.

Looks like M1 EP 5w30 formulation has possibly changed.

I asking here. Some bad attitudes on here noticing. Not new I've been on here at least 10yrs. Was reading a few threads that said formulation was changed possibly . Trying to get info. Just answered to be a wise guy? Weird.

Best 0w20 to resist fuel dilution in Honda 1.5 TGDI engine? And use in Honda J35 V6s?

Yes i'm an engineer hence my trepidation. I worked in "automotive world" as you call it 28yrs in fact for a few Big6 automakers. This scenario is troubling. I'm just being honest. Don't be offended.

    Castrol Edge EP 5w30 2016 Ford F-150 3.5 EcoBoost

Got great results in our newer gen2 TGDI F150s w/ PUP. UOAs so good after 2 i did i don't change oil "variety" anymore. These TGDI engines never burn oil either. That would drive me nuts! If I changed oil brands prob be Mobil1 EP. Though PUP been great as I've mentioned in other posts. Learned...

    Castrol Edge EP 5w30 2016 Ford F-150 3.5 EcoBoost

Great results. 👍🏻 Keep it up. You'll have that truck 15yrs easy if you want. We run a few newer F150s w/ Gen2 DI/port inj TGDI & love em. Always well maintained. Thats key w/TGDI design. Have a '20 Ranger too . Gen2- 2.3L TGDI. Great powertrain w/ 10R80 (from F150) ..Dana axles etc. Stout...

    2021 Ford Bronco 2.7L Ecoboost Pennzoil Platinum 5W30 - 3800 miles

I've had great experience w/ PP & PUP in all our Gen1 & Gen2 TGDI Ford trucks. Did UOAs an all. Usually stick w/Penn Ultra Platinum though these days. Few bucks more..more stout & its spec'd for a few very high- performance vehicles. Though M1 EP is solid no doubt. Anyone have opinions on Torco...

    2021 Ford Bronco 2.7L Ecoboost Pennzoil Platinum 5W30 - 3800 miles

That valve issue (valves from vendor / terminated as supplier) is long mitigated. You will be fine. That's an excellent proven engine plus your taking great care of it. We love the Gen2- 2.3L TGDI in our '20 Ranger. Superb powertrain & good MPG's for 4500lb 4wd truck. 20mpgs average/24 highway...

    UOA - 2021 Ford F150 3.5 Ecoboost Castrol Edge 5W30 4,052 Miles

YES, gen1 (esp) 3.5L V6 TGDI was harder on oil. The Gen2 w/ DI & port inj much less so it seems. Nonetheless anyone running more then 5-6k mis in any TGDIs are pushing it. Just don't do it. The Honda guys are having fits w/those TGDI engines & I feel for em but great maintenance can mitigate...
