Price of Firestone Lifetime Alignment Plan?

I paid $130 for mine, and have gotten far more than my money's worth out of it. I've never had a problem with timing or with the work not being done correctly. Sure they've tried to upsell me a time or two, but that's to be expected. I just tell them I'll check it out. I do all of my own work...

    Another GM cooling system disaster

I gotta ask, was this engine swapped into this car? There's no such thing as an 03 Regal with a 3.1 from the factory. The Regal came with the 3.8 standard, the Century was the Buick w-body with the 3.1 Maybe a junkyard engine?

    Paypal question (again)

I use paypal for free all the time. If you have a personal account instead of a premier account, you can get payments from a PP balance or from someone's bank account for free, but they charge higher rates for CC transactions with a personal account. My roommate and I use it to transfer money...

    hho generator

StevieC, you mention the O2 kit so that you don't run lean, but you're injecting a stoich mixture of hydrogen and oxygen, so how would that affect the O2 readings? I went around and around with a guy here at the office about these kits until he mentioned screwing around with the O2 readings...

They say platinum plugs last 90k miles

I recently pulled the stock plugs from a 2000 Regal with ~110K on it, and the plugs looked perfect. On the other hand, I pulled the plugs on a 2000 Taurus with ~80K, and they were in horrible shape. There's a lot of difference in engine ignition systems and in quality of the plugs themselves, I...

Please talk me out of buying a new car...

I'm biased, since I'm running a Regal with a 3800 and 4T65E right now, but it really depends what you want out of the car. The Buick will have more low end, but the Ford will have more high end. I'm a GM guy because they build good ole pushrod engines with great low end torque, there's not much...

Why are so many bottlers ignoring SAE J 306?

Well, if the manufacturers are ignoring it and not specifying it, why would the aftermarket bottlers do any different?

Testing PCV system.....is this a way?

If it was just sucked in a little, then yes, that's normal. The inlet that's open to atmosphere generally isn't that big, so there's going to be some restriction there. If it sucked it in a lot, then you have a problem, either the PCV valve is letting way too much through, or the inlet is blocked.

Passing Emissions Inspection with MIL On

I'm sorry, but I've just got to laugh at most of these responses. How in the world is the P0446 - Vent Control Circuit Low going to be caused by a bad gas cap? If he's getting a hissing, it's obviously sealing. I don't know anything about Toyota's setup, but it sounds to me like a bad vent...

Passing Emissions Inspection with MIL On

Resetting the codes also resets all of the emissions tests, so you'll fail if you do that. After resetting the codes, you generally need a couple hundred miles of regular driving for the tests to rerun, depending on your driving habits. You're going to need to either fix it or disable it in the...
