    Dirty Gas...Dirty Oil ...?

Is there a relationship between the quality of gas(dime store gas...lowest bidder) and an oils ability to maintain the additive package and suspend solids ? In other words, will using cleaner gas(name brand) result in longer oil life....

    5w20...It works

I own the same truck (minus towing package) and I am keenly interested in your forthcoming switch to 5w-20. I posted a thread on the Taco forum and it seems everyone there is scared to try the 20 weight. The V-6 in my Honda pilot(5w-20) is much quieter than the Taco, however this is not a very...

Found valvoline SL oil, any good?

Pretty tough not to like that oil with the recent rebate for 5 free quarts of maxlife.

How long does it take to change your oil? Be honest.

My V-6 Tacoma takes about 10 minutes with the top mounted filter. Best vehichle I have ever owned for oil changes....no ramps. When it's fitted with the Fumoto valve, I can shave another 60 seconds off. Nascar, here I come. Nothing beats a John Deere tractor for speedy oil changes though.

5w-20 GF-4 Oil Toyota Approved For All Lexi/Most Toyota Engines March, 23 2006

Perhaps Toyota has improved the surface finishes on internal engine bearing surfaces since 2006 and requires a thinner oil film to adequately protect, thus clearing these motors for 5w-20 use.

5w-20 GF-4 Oil Toyota Approved For All Lexi/Most Toyota Engines March, 23 2006

Thank you Ekpolk...I drew a similar conclusion. I like Gary's comment about finding a cap that 5w-20 I hate to "whip a dead horse", but is this info so fuzzy as to be a potential problem with a warranty claim ?

5w-20 GF-4 Oil Toyota Approved For All Lexi/Most Toyota Engines March, 23 2006

I have a 2006 tacoma with the V-6. It says 5w-30 on the dipstick cap but the TSB says it is back spec'd for the 5w-20. Can I run 5w-20 ? This TSB has to be the worst written information I have seen in a while.

5w-20 GF-4 Oil Toyota Approved For All Lexi/Most Toyota Engines March, 23 2006

I have a 2006 Tacoma with the 1GR-FE V-6. Although the TSB says use the weight oil stamped on the cap(5w-30) it appears this does retro-fit the 5w-20 for this engine. Good news. And I just bought 30 qts of Maxlife 5w-30 under the free 5 qt. rebate incentive....darn.

    Maxlife 5w vs. 10w-30

I looked for the MSDS and their website says you need to "request it" via fax. Can some confirm the 5-30 is part synthetic ?

I hear the faint sound of hooves in the distance KemoSabe....I fear a stampede is coming.

    Maxlife 5w vs. 10w-30

Do I interpret this to mean that Maxlife qualifies for semi-synthetic status ? If thats the case ..... I will need to extend the garage

    Maxlife 5w vs. 10w-30

No Wally Worlds in this part of the country(Central Texas)have it at that price but the $17.50 rebate for 5 qts makes it a really great deal.

    Maxlife 5w vs. 10w-30

Don't forget about the "5 free qt. rebate" currently in effect until 8/26.

    Dump Factory Fill @ 2K ?

Appears to me a reasonable compromise is to go half way then change to Havoline. I will do a oil analysis at the end of the second OCI and see where the copper is get Terry's comments and establish an oil regimine. I tend to keep a car for 12-15 years and this is my first experience with a...

    Dump Factory Fill @ 2K ?

If it is not advisable to use data in UOAs that are similar to your driving conditions & equipment, then why do BITOG members refer to UOAs as evidence of an engine or oils ability to lubricate effectively? I know you cannot base a decision soley on someone elses UOA but it is a "piece" of...
