I-10 elevated freeway closed in LA due to fire

Yes, it was in Atlanta back in 2018(ish). I remember because I was working with a bunch of guys who had moved from Atlanta recently and they were all saying how much that particular freeway being closed would completely foul up traffic in that city

Durango oil filter/cooler housing leaking again :-(

I think it’s absolutely reasonable to demand a better designed part, but my own personal opinion on that matter devolves into the whole ‘bean counters always win’ scenario.

Durango oil filter/cooler housing leaking again :-(

I hate to play Devil’s Advocate here, but the part lasted it’s full warranty both times. If we expect more, we should demand a longer warranty, and be willing to pay the extra cost associated with providing such, shouldn’t we?

Short OCI; first "break-in" filter change; Toyota 3.5L 2GR-FKS with OEM factory filter

So we’re now back to ignoring what the owner’s manual says when it comes to preventative maintenance schedules? We just now got everyone on board to start consulting their owner’s manuals first for when/what to do with PM, and now we have to start selling “follow OM, except for when you don’t...

How Low Can We Go: Thoughts After 1 Week of Driving on a Rear Set of 40mm Lowering Springs

Researching an unfamiliar process/service and proceeding with plenty of caution is always a good way to approach these types of unknowns. Kudos for that! Having said that, this particular scenario is starting to feel like it’s been made overly complicated and thought about too much. It’s...

Store Coupons That are Not Coupons.

Does the original “coupon” state in clear English that it is not a coupon and that the savings will be on a future visit?

Store Coupons That are Not Coupons.

It says pretty clearly that it is not a redeemable coupon, and then again states the savings will be on future purchase. Getting upset about this sounds unreasonable to me.

Possible to disable a specific CEL code?

The CEL and associated DTC are meant to protect the vehicle in times of abnormal operation. Ignoring or disabling them is done at your car’s peril. If the charging system is constantly showing 14.5v, and briefly exceeding it from the sounds of it, your battery is at risk of boiling the acid off...

Black is the silliest car color - prove me wrong

You keep talking about hiding curves and such. Okay…I have two criteria for a car purchase: can I pay cash for it and can it get me out of trouble as quickly as it got me into it. As long as it satisfies those two, the color could be primer or turd brown for all I care.

Black is the silliest car color - prove me wrong

I like black…but I also like white…thankfully we live in a world where it’s possible to have both.

5.7 Hemi -Tick coming from injector rails?

Every platform and/or engine family will have issues more common in those than in other platforms and/or engine families. It is more likely that an 09+ Hemi will have a lifter fail and take out the cam than it is for the 08 and older Hemi’s. Conversely, it is more likely the 08 and older Hemi...

GM 5.3: No oil pressure after oil change

It is a coincidence most likely. Yes, the timing is curious, but stranger things have happened. Sometimes a spoon is just a spoon…on the other hand, just because someone is paranoid doesn’t mean there aren’t others out to get him.

5.7 Hemi -Tick coming from injector rails?

The valve train issues you are concerned about are not really a thing for your engine. Those started with the updated version of the Hemi introduced in 2009. Your issue, if you want to consider it one, is noisy fuel injector(s). It’s not a portent of doom, it’s just a fact of life with a fuel...

    High Mileage 5.7 HEMI V-8's ??

I am 400 miles away from turning 250K miles on my 2012 Charger Pursuit with the 5.7L. The car was used as a PD patrol car for the first 100K miles then retired and auctioned off, at which point I picked it up (2018). The engine had its cam and lifters replaced at 90K miles while still in PD...

Proper coolant for 2014 Dodge ram 1500 - 5.7 hemi

Dodge switched to OAT (from HOAT) by 2014. The Mopar branded OAT will be purple IIRC, but the color isn’t as important as the type.

    Transmission Problems

Has the transmission fluid and filter been serviced at any point in those miles? If not, the trans is likely toast and will need a rebuild or to be replaced. If the service history is unknown, a safe assumption is the trans is toast and will need a rebuild or to be replaced.

    About done with Autozone

I don’t necessarily see this as being an Autozone problem. And to be honest, I’m disinclined to be sympathetic at all. A) Online orders for clearance merchandise is sketchy at best for any of the local auto store entities. B) If the trip is to an “out of the way” location, why even risk it...

    Beware--ArmorAll Tire Shine Extreme

Yeah, I can’t stand to open my hood and see dirt and dust everywhere. I clean it at every car wash and detail all the plastic as well. I’m not trying to hide anything except my disdain for dirty engine compartments…
