I live in an apartment building, I’ve done oil changes on equinox and crosstrek in lot or closed buildings nearby. I extract thru dipstick and for the Equinox with the filter underneath I use a large baggie around the filter to catch the oil. No oil spills.

2019 Subaru Crosstrek Total miles 44850 OCI 5000 a little less Out Mobil 1 5w30 ep w/stp xl filter On Pennzoil Platinum 0w20 w/ Fram ultra filter Extracted thru dipstick. Removed drain plug to see what came out….maybe a tablespoon. Temp outside was 38 degrees felt like a heatwave.

Oliveoil2 get an extractor from Amazon.

In Peekskill,NY not far from you. 5w30 in Crosstrek, no issue starting after some negative temps sitting outside overnight.

The question is is Mobil 1 Extended Performance is not around what would I grab. In 0w20 flavor at Walmart. 1) Valvoline Extended Protection 2) Royal Purple 3) Quaker State Ultimate Protection 2020 Equinox 1.5 and 19 crosstrek 2.0

Will see I’m at 6100 miles @ 19% on OLM. It’s toooo cold to change it.

Honestly don’t know. The algorithm is based on 10000 mile dexos syn oil.

Follow the OLM. GM has created a great tool and it has been thoroughly tested.

I think with Mobil 1 Extended Performance and probably the GM OLM analog you take the oil down to 0-5%.

Subarus are the easiest engines to change oil. Get a oil extractor.

In the winter I’ll extract the oil from the dip stick and leave the filter on. If it’s a nice weather change I’ll get on the ground.
