    Fixing up garage - painting?

Semigloss on the cabinets. I have had great luck using a mini roller (also called a cigar roller) when painting wood surfaces. It beats a brush - of any size - 8 ways to Sunday. You can apply 1 coat 1 day, wrap the roller (still on the handle) in a large ziploc bag, store in the frig, and then...

    The Ultimate Car Cleaning Process?

I would add cleaning the seat belts. I’ve had success with diluted Woolite and a stiff brush. I’ve also seen more thorough vacuuming done by putting a vibratory sander/muscle massager/buffer directly on the carpet to shake out more of the dirt.

    Cleaning and painting Dryvit

Agree on being gentle…..no pressure washing. I would think some of the housewash like Jomax with a soft bristle brush would be fine. The paint store could give you recommendations on what products to use….

    Fixing up garage - painting?

I agree with RhondaHonda. Spend the money on decent primer like Kilz or Zinsser and 2 coats. Gray color will soak up the light so I would stay away from that. Eggshell finish can be washed. No problem painting topcoats same day as primer.

What are you watching in YouTube?

On long trips I will listen to the Apollo lunar landing flight directors tapes. The one for Apollo 13 is fascinating. Gene Lunney is one cool customer….actually all of the directors are cool and calm….

    Purple power or simple green?

My experience is that Simple Green outperforms purple power. I have tried LA Awesome and was disappointed and Super Clean is much more powerful than SG and PP.

The continuation of being dumped on in Restaurants needs to end.

Hmmm…..we tried to have supper at a Red Robin Plainfield, Indiana last May and were told there would be a 40 minute wait at a virtually empty restaurant. They simply did not have enough employees.

    HVAC register ductwork

I appreciate hearing from an experienced T&B professional. I bought a small hand held anemometer and am measuring flow at the center of the grilles. I‘m basing the design flow on 1 cfm per sf of room -admittedly not a detailed analysis. This room is warmer than the other rooms on the floor...

    HVAC register ductwork

Update, kind of………… Im working on the return side of the system. Cut an 8” hole in the trunk duct and measured 191 cfm. Then installed an 8” to 6” reducer and measured 121 cfm. These numbers are in line with my ductulator. I think I’m learning that for a given size of air handler, if you use...

    HVAC register ductwork

The front to back dimension is too large for a 2x4 wall. Thanks for the links you sent, but those are all 4” front to back which are too “deep” for a 2x4 wall. I’ll search in the links for one 3-1/2” deep.

    HVAC register ductwork

I’m investigating my home HVAC system and have low airflow in a register ( 90 cfm vs 130 cfm). It’s fed with a 6 inch round duct off the trunk line to a 6 inch 90 degree boot in the wall. The wall is 2x4 studs. The damper at the 6“ duct by the trunk line is wide open. I would like to change the...
