How good/bad is the Mopar MO-349?

I pretty much use the 349 exclusively on our T&C. They come out the straightest and look the best IMO. I've tried a few others and returned to the 349. I run the oil & filter until the EVIC says to change. That's usually 9k miles +/- 1k.

    New Rider - Thoughts

I think it depends on what you buy. I have an LT150 that I bought used in 2019. It is a 2002 that had been abused by the previous owner before I got it. I replaced the deck spindles, fixed some oil leaks, the head gasket and serviced the transmission. Now it runs like a dream and all I do...

Anyone know of someone successfully filing an oil warranty claim with Mobil 1, Pennzoil, et al.?

I've been around racing my whole life, and I have yet to see an oil related failure. If the proper oil is used, the failure is not likely lube related. These warranties are CYA's for any manufacturing or blending issues, which also tend not to happen due to automation.

    New Rider - Thoughts

IMO, buy an older JD mower like an LT series or 300 series. You can still get service parts.

    Why is Kirkland 15W-40 Semi-Synthetic?

my take is they are semi-synthetic with the "move" away from completely conventional oil. Mobil Delvac 1300 15w40 has been S-S for a while now.

Let’s talk about steel and the grades

@53' Stude are you looking for information or just to share knowledge? If you are researching you might want to consider ChatGPT or Microsoft CoPilot as resources. I find myself using those way more than Google these days. You still need to interpret the information, but it saves countless...

E-85 Fiasco with 2010 Buick Lucerne

Don't be confused, there is lots of corn in the Midwest for all the animal feeding needs as well as ethanol. Not to mention the byproducts of ethanol can and are used as animal feed.

E-85 Fiasco with 2010 Buick Lucerne

FWIW, our van sat for 2-1/2 weeks with E85 in the tank while we went to Alaska. I'm thinking you might have got a bad load of fuel. I wouldn't blame the E85 until you identify root cause. I have been using E85 almost exclusively for 6 months with no issues.

E-85 Fiasco with 2010 Buick Lucerne

It is readily available all over the Midwest. I have been using it in my wife's T&C. It is ~$2/gal versus E10 at ~$3/gal.

Diesel - How long can I actually store it?

pumps don't need to be marked for 5% or less bio.

    Auto insurers and older cars

@74DartSport I believe you are being overly optimistic on the outcome. The value of the vehicle is very low in regard to the damage. Your current ratio is 88%, so a total loss. Even if they increase the GAPPR, to get to the 65-70% damage range you need a value of $6,500 to 7,000 range...

Walmart Great Value Ice Cream=Blue Bunny?

exactly what I tell my wife and kids. You think Walmart (or other no name brands) makes ketchup, ice cream, bread etc... No, it is someone else that makes it and packages it. I would hazard a guess that the recipe may not be exactly the same as the OEM brand, but close.

    Ethanol vs ethanol free gas

not to state the obvious, but I don't think people would use a product they aren't a fan of or don't believe in. I have stopped using Stabil. I don't store fuel for more than a handful of months so it seems like a waste to me.

Diesel put in 87 Gas tanks at Sam's Club Ohio

Bad deal for a lot of folks. That said, better diesel in a gasoline vehicle, than gasoline in a diesel. It would be way more expensive and cause a lot more damage to the HPCR and the engine itself.

    wiring advice

It is a fiberglass body over a tube frame. My only rationalization for how they did this is cost. The short pieces of wire are likely cheaper than the long strands in the harness. My main concern is multiple grounds and the issue that creates with troubleshooting if there is an issue. It...

    wiring advice

Good day All As most of you know, I'm currently building a Factory Five Roadster. The link is here ->https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/project-cobra.391098/ Anyway, I'm looking for some input on the wiring for my car. The kit I purchased came with an aftermarket wire harness, and I...

    Project Cobra

Another productive weekend in the garage. I managed to paint and install the interior sheetmetal, I routed and clamped the fuel tank vent hose and started on the harness install. I have the fuse box installed and the front harness roughed in. It is coming along nicely.

    Project Cobra

I've been plugging away in the garage the last couple nights for a few minutes on fuel lines. I have them completed from the fuel tank to the firewall. I will leave them as is until I figure out engine and the fuel system for the motor.

    Project Cobra

The car is intended to have a SBF, so the 427 will be a 351W that is bored and stroked. I have yet to decide if it will be a Ford Performance crate engine or another manufacturer. There are several builders that build engines specifically for the FFR Cobra's.

    Project Cobra

I finally made it back to the garage this week / weekend. We were in Alaska for our 25th anniversary the first 2 weeks of June and a wedding in KC last weekend has put a crimp in my work, but I have to keep the boss happy, she is working with me on the car... It has been tremendously hot here...
