    oil for an air compressor

If it is going to be kept in an attached garage I would use the recommended 15w40 HDEO for the ease of getting the oil. SuperTech makes a good 15w40. If you are concerned about the cold, then you could switch to 5w40 HDEO. It is interesting it does not specify compressor oil which is usually...

Used Riding Lawnmower - Which Brand and Model

For .6 acres a newer used John Deere 300 series would work. Most have a 48" deck that will allow you to cut your yard in a decent amount of time, but also fit through your gate. Repair parts aren't a concern with dealerships being available as well as the online market. It will likely come...

Extended oil change intervals impact on Wear

my response could be anecdotal but I think the longer drain intervals has more to do with fuel dilution and oil viscosity than wear metals in the oil. Lot's of extended UOA's on this site over time showing the PPM per 1,000 miles is pretty linear but the viscosity and fuel dilution are bigger...

    Project Cobra

I have made some progress the last few weeks all be it slow with the in-laws in town for a week. I am getting very close to bringing the body home for a first fitment. I have got my turn signals and hazards sorted out and the LED lights installed. I fixed the rear turn signals and brake lights...

How complacency lead to overcharged .223 cartridges

@wwillson I'm glad no one was injured. Working for 3 decades in manufacturing, complacency often leads to injury or worse. I'm glad you have set up a check process for moving forward! Enjoy helping control the population of nuisance anmals.

BluePrint Engines says to not go synthetic until 9000 miles?

FWIW, my Smeding Performance 427SBF says no full synthetic ever. In my mind it is what it is. I'll run my semi synthetic 15w40 they have approved. It's not worth screwing around with this kind of money. Besides engines have run on dyno oil for many years with no issues.

    2026 NHL Playoffs

tighter than I expected especially given game 3 ended with Carolina scoring on their own net in 2OT. Before it started, I kind of figured Carolina might have their way with Vegas, but Vegas getting past Colorado, seems like they are the real deal.

Shop fan or ceiling fan for garage

This is what I use in my garage during the humid Iowa summers. Moves a lot of air quickly.

    driveline noise - 2012 Ram 2500

I had this same idea and asked AI. It didn't give me a lot of confidence that it would tell me much, but I figured what do I have to lose. I will try it once the rain passes this week, we got 2+" yesterday, so not a good day to work on it... Thanks for the feedback.

    driveline noise - 2012 Ram 2500

Yes it is a 2500 CTD. I guess you could call it the whooshing. I think it is the carrier bearing on the 2 piece driveshaft. The noise comes from what seems like the mid underside of the truck.

    driveline noise - 2012 Ram 2500

I need some help folks. My 2012 Ram has a weird sound in the driveline. I was pretty sure it was the front driveshaft u-joint to the transfer case. I removed the front driveshaft, but the truck is still making noise. I certainly is a mystery to me. I'm now wondering if it is the carrier...

Detroit Truetrac in 2002 F-350 - viscosity question

it's a 24 year old truck, why change what you have been doing, which is the manufacturers recommendation, BTW... I would use the 75w140 and motor on, unless you have a compelling reason to change.

    Project Cobra

I fixed my thermostat coolant leak I believe. I replaced the Dorman housing with a MR Gasket housing. I'm not excited it is chrome, but oh well. I took the little guy next door for a ride and both my boys and FIL. Just go karting around the block. Lot's of looks and mostly friendly waves. I set...

Pennzoil Platinum vs Valvoline Advanced vs Castrol Edge vs Quaker State

side pipe modifications for Project Cobra

Well folks, I have go-karted my MK3 Cobra twice now and the boss has spoken. She said the side pipes on the MK3 are too loud. She has not ridden in the car, but she has expressed her concern waiting for me to return in the driveway. They are the stock FFR raw steel pipes with GasN performance...

The power of time with money…

As I noted, great first step in getting her to save. I have to disagree with the before tax and after-tax piece, but to each their own. You estimate 90% growth on $1M, so she would invest roughly $100K between the match and her contribution. If it is 50% then she pays tax on $50K. In...

The power of time with money…

Glad to hear she is taking the advice! Something I feel is easily lost on today's younger folks. Your next step is to teach her about a Roth 401K to avoid the capital gains taxes. With a 7% company match she should end up with a nice mix of both traditional and Roth 401k!

    Leveling compound - small area

I would ask him to be sure, but if I were doing the work I wouldn't want you to mess with it since it can be fixed during the tile prep and install.
