When to replace an "old" car....

I hate to be the guy to say it, but she is an adult. What does she want? You can provide advice and guidance, but the fledgling is flying from the nest and needs to grow on her own by making decisions and learning from them. Having 2 daughters, I get it, but she is an adult now. My daughter...

    Lets talk about new vehicles

I can’t rev my two cars. My Sienna stops at 1500 and has a screen pop up telling me to stop. My Jeep won’t rev past 2500 or 3000 when in park.

The Current New Truck Market Is In Trouble

I’m lucky to have a 2024 F150 XLT that is very nicely loaded as a company assigned truck. It was $65,000 new. I couldn’t afford the payment of I wanted to, but it is a fantastic truck. The 36 gallon tank with the 3.5 Ecoboost leads to some very long trips without fuel stops. It gets 22 mpg on...

San Antonio police arrest suspect in taillight and tailgate thefts

I backed my 2024 F150 into a tractor, breaking the tail light. I found a brand new light for $250, and transferred my radar unit to the new one. The cheap one does not reflect as well at night, but is perfect when doing what it is supposed to do while driving. Glad they caught one. Car parts...

Idiots that drive with hitch balls attached…

It takes no time at all to remove it, and it can easily be stowed away in a tool box. You are more likely to bust your shins on the receiver than you are have your vehicle rescued by it. Mine is always removed once the towing is done. I live in salt country, so mine also stay nice and are...

    Post your latest oil change

How many quarts of ATF? Asking for my future project in 50000 miles. That looks really clean, so waiting isn't all that bad a notion.

Do you sometimes randomly pick up trash?

Part of being an offroading Jeep guy is picking up the trash of the dirtbags that leave their trash behind. Independence day seems to be the day that tons of redneck morons decide that the forest clearing is their place to leave the fireworks remnants behind. If I want the trails open, I need...

My dog is nearing her end of life

I wish I could have been able to take care of this at home. She died at home, but I had to take her to the vet, sit and wait with her body in our kennel, and then try to leave while deeply distraught after they took her away. Having someone come home and take her away with them would have been...

My dog is nearing her end of life

I am so, so sorry for this. We lost our dog just over a year ago. Hardest day I have had in a long time, with the hardest one being the day I had to shoot one of my dogs because she was suffering terribly after being hit by a car, and there was no saving her. My daughter wanted some of her...

Struggle to commit to a 10,000Km oil change interval

I worked for Canadians for 5 years, then bought a car from Canada that had a metric speedometer. I can convert with the best of them. It’s always sunny and 20 inside, we used to say up there. Working in Ag in Canada is fun because they use both Imperial and Metric up there.

    2022 ZR2 - Update -54k miles

This is on my radar as a future vehicle for me if I ever decided to sell the Jeep. Thanks for the update.

How big is your stash, hoarders?

I ran in to Wal-Mart this morning. Valvoline supply was gone.. Nothing on the shelves. Penzoil was fully stocked all grades. Mobil 1 was mostly stocked, but there was no 0W-30 to be found in any grade of Mobil 1. I picked up a 0W-20 Mobil 1ESP to add to the stash to ensure I have 2 changes...

Mid-air at Mountain Home AFB Today

A friend of mine, who was an F-18 pilot, was killed when ejecting from his plane. His wife was told he was on a night desert flight, lost all instrumentation and did not realize he was pointed in a downward angle when he had to eject. He hit one of the tails on the F-18 and it was over. Those...

    Rethinking My Oil Change Intervals

I change my Wrangler, in a similar situation to yours, once per year, before I park it for the winter. I put on about 3000-3500 miles a year on it, using it only on weekends or occasionally in the evening. I'll do a couple 200 mile trips here or there in it, otherwise, it's seeing the local...

    Those Performing Extended Oil Changes

I bet lots of us are about to start extending oil changes for the first time, like it or not. I've done 6500 mile changes, but that was usually due to a vacation in the middle of a run. My hybrid van that is 100% city though....tough to extend that one without doing some oil testing, which I...

How big is your stash, hoarders?

On a whim I checked our Walmart for some 0W-30, though I have a jug now. There was none, nor was there 0W-20. I panic bought a jug a Full Syn Valvoline 5W-30 to have on hand. My Sienna can use the 1 jug of Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w20 I have, so I’m good for a year or so, as the next...

    Hantavirus

No one will listen, though, due to the post game analysis showing how poorly the “experts” reacted. That’s the main fear I have. You need 100 years between pandemics so people who remember the last one can die off.

    Hantavirus

We had visible mice living in our Combine Harvester and hantavirus was our biggest fear, besides miles of damaged wiring. That was 20 years ago. It's not new, and it's not a widespread concern.
