2008 Honda Odyssey oil and filter?

Any difference in how the engine runs after doing all that work? I put a VCM tuner on our '07 EX-L...and then sold it six months later!

    Transmission Partial Drain CALCULATOR **Sticky

Good to have. I recently worked out the formula myself on a calculator, but I didn't write it down or put it into a spreadsheet. This saves me from having to do that In any case, the greatest return on effort seems to be three D&F's for my vehicles. The margin rapidly diminishes thereafter...

    Battle of the Big Three

I go on price, so I've used all three, and two of them are on the shelf in the garage right now, along with a lot of RGT.

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

2nd drain and fill today after having done the first a few weeks back in my 2013 Camry 4-cyl. with 112K miles. Not sure if it had previously been replaced. 2.2 qts of Maxlife ATF went in, along with 7 oz Lubegard Red. I'll do one more in another month or two.

    Oil Change Interval

Between 5K and 7K each for our three vehicles, using full synthetic oil found by perusing the promotions subforum here. Filter change everytime. Filters range from Purolator and Bosch to Fram and M1, based on availability and price at the time. Recently got a good deal on OEM filter cartridges...

    Hypothetical transmission question

I don't know the exact value, but the probability is certainly much lower than if the engine oil weren't changed. Modern cars are really technological wonders. How many Fords, Chevys, or Dodges from the 1970s lasted 200K miles? I remember my dad rebuilding the engine of our '77 Plymouth Volare...

    Mixing Synthetic Oil Brands

I once had a half glass of tap water that I topped off with filtered bottled water before downing the whole thing. I wonder how much it shortened my lifespan. I remember about 10-12 years ago when I told a guy I was using full synthetic of Brand X after switching from conventional oil of Brand...

Poll: what'd you use in your WS-spec'd AT?

I did a drain and fill of Maxlife for my 2013 Camry that specs WS. About two quarts total. The car has 115K miles or so. I suspect it's the first drain and fill since it came from the factory, but I don't know. The fluid that came out was dark red. I'll do a second drain and fill in a week or...

Mobile 1 in a Subaru Manual transaxle?

I'm nearly six months late to this thread. I'm about to change the fluid in my 2017 manual transmission Crosstrek with 50K miles. The owner's manual simply says SUBARU Extra MT, with GL-5 75W90 being an alternative, although the footnote says that the latter will reduce fuel economy and driving...

    Why Do We Complicate Things?

I suspect that 99% of the cars we see on the road everyday have owners who don't even know what grade of oil is in their car, much less the brand or type. Maybe they use the quick lube shops or the dealerships regularly, or maybe they rarely change the oil at all. Even so, the cars will probably...

    Favorite Tool Brand

I do the exact same thing. For sockets, ratchets, and extensions, I like and use the old New Britain stuff, which they sold under several labels -- their own name, Husky, Blackhawk, PENNCRAFT, and Sparta. In addition, I have and use old US-made Craftsman from my dad, with an occasional Snap On...

post your latest differential fluid change

2002 Tacoma Double Cab 4WD with 3.4L six cylinder. 217K miles. I bought it with 107K miles on it 11 years ago. First fluid changes since I've owned it, and maybe the first ever. Rear differential Out with unknown gray thick oil. Magnet was loaded. In with Supertech Full Synthetic 75W90...

    Any Horror Multi-Vehicle ATF Stories?

Just put Maxlife multi vehicle in my 2002 Tacoma with 217k miles. It's now shifting extremely smoothly, unlike before. It was also about a quart low beforehand. Shame on me for not staying on top of it. I'll do a second and third drain and refill in the coming weeks with more Maxlife.

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

2002 Tacoma Double Cab 4WD with 217K miles. Not sure if it had the original or not, but it certainly had no fluid exchange in the past 110K miles. Out -- 3+ qts of unknown. Dirty looking. In -- 4 qts of Maxlife multi vehicle. Results -- Shifts as smoothly and quietly as can be, unlike before...
