    2018 CR-V, Mobil 1 ESP 5W30, 4502 miles

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this motor requires 87 octane (min), not premium 91/93?

    Super Tech MP9688 C&P

Nice C&P thanks! I actually just put one of these on my Outback for no other reason than I wanted to try it lol

    What's up with filter prices?

It's not just the auto parts stores, a lot of it is the brand themselves now. I know it depends on how popular a filter model is, but even at Walmart the fram PH9688 filters I always use to buy for about $5ish are now like $9ish and often a tad more than a TG9688. Lots of pricing doesn't seem to...

    2018 CR-V, Mobil 1 ESP 5W30, 4502 miles

We do still use 87 octane, but we're in Colorado where that's midgrade. I did run 91 octane for a few cycles and honestly couldn't notice much of a difference and up here anyway the price difference is big enough to be annoying lol. We do have ethanol free options so I do wonder about that...

2022 Subaru Crosstrek ..5000 Miles Liquid Moly 0w20 / Subaru blue filter (Fram)

LOL! This. The subaru blue frams are just fine. I used to use only OEM black roki filters for my 3.6 for a while and while they are very well built, you know the one thing I never could find out? How well it actually filtered and did what it was supposed to do, and given that it's been unchanged...

    2018 CR-V, Mobil 1 ESP 5W30, 4502 miles

Very interesting report! My wife has a 2022 CRV 1.5T and while I haven't sent in a sample for it yet myself, your report helps confirm my theory on OCI's for these little motors. I change at 4k miles with any brand full syn and an orange can because the fuel dilution is just so bad on these...

    FRAM CORE #10060 CUT OPEN

Not sure for the 10060 model of the Core but for my other motor the 9688 model core is way different then the Extra Guard....seems to resemble the champ lab made supertech filters actually. I'll use extra guards on my personal motors without issue but won't put a core on them. Strange the...

    NOTICE ANYTHING ?

Always surprised how much of a resemblance these have to the OEM Roki filters for the H6 Subaru's.

    FRAM CORE #10060 CUT OPEN

Same! Actually just slapped on a TG10060 on my father's Tahoe earlier today and see no reason to save $2 for these lol

    Virgin Purolator L14460 Cut

BY FAR the most important thing on any filter period is that it has metal endcaps. That's ALL That matters...because Youtube. :cautious:

Enginemasters new episode 4/30 oil filter showdown!

No offense, but if one instance of something going wrong is enough for you...then there is no filter on the market today that is good enough for you. I can guarantee you that there is not one filter out there that hasn't had a failure or some sort.

    Aftermarket Mazda Specific Oil Filters

Same with the OEM Subaru filter for the H6. But I've used everything from Frams to Wix and house brands with a drainback value without issue.

Carquest red 96%@20um,what about the 4%um?

Same, I've used the boss on other cars without issue but the sizing for my personal motor makes it too big to fit properly so stay away from it. Honestly at this point I don't really trust any purolator made filters outside of the boss and there are just too many as good or better choices for...

Mobil Super 5000 synblend coming back to Walmart !!

This is the SN+ lineup so not sure about the new SP ones, but it's a solid oil for 5k or so intervals really. Nothing special but not at all bad either. Add pack seems plenty decent even with a low TBN, but otherwise looks good for $15 per 5qt jug really. Even a bit stronger than the Napa syn...

Napa Full Synthetic H.M. 5W-30, 6874 miles, 2006 Lincoln Mark LT

This is interesting because I have a UOA posted here somewhere with 5w30 napa syn sn+ in a DI Subaru for about a 6k mile run and the oil stayed within grade the entire time. So odd this one fell out of grade here...

Fram orange can from Ford 5.4 3v

I have the EZ36D Subaru motor that moves A LOT of oil around through the pump. At 83k miles and have used the Orange can PH9688 plenty of times with no problems what so ever and each time I cut them open after a 4k to 5k OCI they look great with great pleat spacing and I've seen zero indications...

PRO TEC 57502/121 TORN!! CUT OPEN

You gotta remember though that by far most folks honest to god don't know any better or care and these super cheap filters are often being put on but a shop or quick lube they go to for their oil changes. I definitely wouldn't put these on my motor but most people would never even know.

    Virgin Fram Drive FD10575 C&P

It looks nothing like an extra guard really. Different end caps, different center tube, different ADBV and no bypass value....I really don't see how this looks anything like an extra guard. I would happily put an extra guard on my motor, but not the drive personally. EDIT: Sorry it does have a...

Fram Technical Info - WHAT REALLY MAKES AN OIL FILTER EFFECTIVE?

Oh I wasn't calling YOU out for that or anything, sorry! I meant like content creators on youtube that was posted or basically half of the internet lol. :) And for sure, inspect a filter visually, you should be doing that and I always do to! For reasons like you just mentioned. I was more...
