Most durable EC-1 rated ELC coolant

Sorry to bring up an older thread - but Shell Rotella Ultra ELC isn't EC-1 rated. Shell Rotella ELC (non "ultra") is. Have any of you run high mileage on a 6.0 PSD like the OP has (I have one too which is why I'm curious) on shell rotella ultra? Any ill-effects?

Ford Gold, ELC, Dexcool? Ford 6.0 Diesel

It is starting to seem to me like CAT EC-1 rating is somewhat broad - CAT ELC above does have 2-EH, Peak final charge is EC-1 rated but DOESN'T use 2-EH, formulations both with and without nitrite are also EC-1 rated. I haven't found anything yet about what defines the EC-1 rating exactly.

Ford Gold, ELC, Dexcool? Ford 6.0 Diesel

So I recently bought a Ford 2006 F250 6.0 Diesel. Before I bought it, there was a lot of work done at the dealer (oil cooler, HPOP). The truck also had the EGR deleted previously. The dealer changed the coolant. But instead of putting in spec'd ford gold, they put in ford orange (V3CB), it's on...

Best detergent oil for light sludge in Toyota 3.4

I saw this recently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VLMfUz34R0 Discussion about cleaning starts about 8:00 minues in. They are saying that the oil has to get up to temperature before it starts "trapping contaminates" at 13:00 minutes in - they are talking about flushing engines out by using...

Understanding why different viscosities are recommended?

New user here. I read the motor oil university on this website but I need some help with something and I'd appreciate some insight. Something I've always wondered was why do manufacturers recommend different high temp (say 5w30 or 5w40) weights for their vehicles. If I understand correctly, the...
