Techron / Gumout : Use Only Just Before Oil Change ?

The Gumout bottles recommend every 3,000 miles and not more that twice per OCI. So I use a bottle when my OLM is at like 55% and again when I'm a tank or two before an oil change. I think it's the over-cautious BITOGer who only uses it just before an oil change.

Pretty soon the kids won't understand Rosco P. Coltrane's insulting nickname for Enos. That's the real shame in this.

2011 Hyundai Tuscan Auto Trans Issues

The torque converter stopped locking up on my 2013 Sorento last fall. Local trans shop didn't just give me the "go away" price, he literally told me to go away lol. So I was able to source a used transmission on https://reman-transmission.com/ for under a grand, and my regular indy shop...

    Shell Rotella Gas Truck oil

I liked it because I got 54 quarts of it for $2.13/qt when it was on closeout back in 2020. Finally used the last of it a year ago, now I'm going through the SuperTech FS 12 quart garage boxes I picked up for about the same price per quart. My vehicles don't know the difference.

"Old" production date tires worth the discount?

If those 3 year old tires were stored indoors and out of UV light, they are as good as they were on day 1.

    Best/Worst A/C Performance in a car?

Every GM I've owned had cold and durable AC. I owned a 1992 Subaru Legacy for a while, that AC worked fine but you had to choose AC or driving. That little motor really struggled to move the car and power the AC simultaneously.

Wondering how VRP could have helped vehicles you have owned in the past.

It may have helped our old Volvo S70with the small oil consumption problem it had. But it would not have helped the head gasket, suspension parts, cat, and everything else it needed when I finally donated it to the public radio station. Still got 21 years and 277k miles of service out of her...

Car Lift needed to change transmission fluid?

If it's like my Kia (and it probably is) I had to put on jackstands. I also had to put 2 or 3 feet of tubing on a funnel to direct the new fluid into the transmission, and have one of my kids underneath to tell me when it started flowing out the side plug to know it was full.

6L90 third gear shift flare solved CTS-V (air from sitting)

I have the 6L90 in my Sierra, and it will flare every time I start the engine and drive forward without reversing first. Been doing this ever since I bought it with 18k miles on it. (127k now) Doesn't matter if the engine was off 30 seconds or 30 days. I just do my best to park where I need...
