    MG ZS

Hi. Yes, you are indeed correct, the owner can register for the extra warranty when the 3 year one expires. Just needs to be serviced by Dacia which is no big deal. I will definitely take a look at the duster. Will have to be a petrol though as my mrs does mainly stop/start commuting. I...

How do Airliners navigate without GPS?

Hi. This pic reminds me of a WW2 story. The Irish were a neutral country in WW2. They put huge signs on their west coast that were supposedly there to make it clear that this was Eire to any aircraft that was approaching. They also numbered them, eg Eire1 , 2 , 3 etc. This was a crafty way to...

    MG ZS

Hi Bailes. Thanks for the reply. Good to read that the auto box is a proper Aisin unit. Not sure where i got the idea it was a DCT. I think Toyota use Aisin so they must be ok. The turbo engine seems to produce better low end torque so performs better. I wish they offered the 1.5 turbo in the...

How do Airliners navigate without GPS?

Hi. Thank you for helping me out. 'GPS signal spoofed: old school comparing raw data position ( land based radio signals….VOR/DME ) versus computed position ( GPS )'. Is this something you would be looking at as a matter of course or only if jamming or spoofing was suspected?

How do Airliners navigate without GPS?

Hi. Been various news items in UK about alleged Russian interference with the GPS that Airliners use to navigate. This is allegedly happening over the Baltic states. UK has a large population of eastern Europeans, so a lot of UK budget airlines operate there...

    MG ZS

Hi Bailes. I am grateful for you posting this thread as my Mrs has designs on a new MG ZS. Guy on my Avenue has one and she likes the look of it. I hope you don't mind if i pick your brains a little. I have read several reviews that state the 1.5 litre could not pull the skin off a rice...

    9mm handgun recommendation

CZ 75 without hesitation. Well made, reliable and accurate. Knowing that mine was going to be crushed after the ban, i abused it terribly. I shot hundreds of rounds through it without so much as a wipe down, that pistol just refused to stop working. I would have another in a heart beat. It is...

Flight documents show MH370 was ‘buried in an ocean trench by pilot’, says Boeing expert

Hi. Some questions if i may Astro. Is 3000kg a significant amount of extra fuel for a 777 on that particular journey? Would the extra 3000kg of fuel that the Captain asked for go unquestioned at the time? Would his first officer have queried this and would Malaysian Airlines HQ been aware of...

    Commercial Pilots and Alcohol limits.

Hi Astro. Being a Brit, i find your last couple of sentences to be embarrassing. Is it UK Police that are the problem or the private security mob that does the luggage scans etc?

F-14 Questions Answered - Ask Away

Hi. I will post two links to recent videos that our own Astro and other members may be interested in. My links often fail so i would be grateful if some kind sole could rectify it. Part 2 seems 'unavalable'. The Pilot being interviewed is a former RAF, F4 Phantom pilot who was offered an...

Euro oil choices for an engine with higher than normal operating temperatures.

Hi. What is meant by higher than normal operating temperatures? We have a 2005 Vauxhall/Opel Astra with the Z16XEP petrol engine. This engine runs hot. The thermostat starts to open at 105c and the normal operating temperature is 108-110c. Cooling fan starts up at about 115c. Have been told...

    Battery Voltage.

Hi bernie. Yes, the new battery is great. Fires the Jeep up in the cold winter mornings just fine. It cranks much quicker than the old battery. I do occasionally put the battery on a ctek smart charger to top it up.
