TOYOTA possibly bringing small truck ( Corolla ) to compete with FORD Maverick in U.S..

I’d buy one. No need for a full or mid sized truck-truck for me. A small sedan like vehicle with a bed would be fine. My mom has a Pilot and I think it’s a perfect daily suburban vehicle. Much more practical. But it doesn’t check the machismo box.

Toyota Sienna Hybrid A25A Engine - Oil and Coolant Temps

These engines are very thermally efficiency. I believe it will never get that high. My last hwy run it didn’t break 200F. Got it up to 4000 rpms getting it on the hwy too.

2026 Prius PHEV Plan of action, point of interest, and thoughts.

Oil temp in our Sienna Hybrid with the A25A hardly goes above 190F using -20 and the coolant temp hardly goes above 200F. I might post some of the readings one day.

    5w-30 for Sienna Hybrid

If you have a lot of 5w-30 on hand then I would just use that. This engine is not particular with the oil.

Need to learn how to do Oil changes I guess

Umm, no. I think you are misunderstanding. The statistical likelihood of injury or death working underneath a properly lifted vehicle as far less than driving on the roadways. There are many, many more variables on the road that are outside of your control which can cause harm. It doesn’t really...

    Filtration vs. flow. Hybrid EV.

Toyota A25A has proven to be a solid engine across all configurations and platforms. Also the engine is not going to have a “dry” or “restricted” start based on anything you mentioned. I would not worry about this. Just change the oil/filter regularly and drive it as you normally would.

Need to learn how to do Oil changes I guess

I hear you. Being under a properly lifted car is orders of magnitude safer than driving said car on the highways.

Toyota’s stance on using a heavier weight oil

It cost $60 to fill up the Sienna this weekend with 15 gallons. I would hate to see the monthly fuel bill for the his and hers truck/SUV crowd.

Toyota’s stance on using a heavier weight oil

Or what about when the manufacturers say you can temporarily use a higher grade? Do the tolerances temporarily increase? I guess maybe manufacturers are ok with temporary catastrophic damage.

Need to learn how to do Oil changes I guess

If it is that much of a concern for you then yeah you’re going to have to start doing things yourself. But I will say that is a pretty small transgression and not a reason to completely write off a good shop. You never made a mistake in your professional working life? Always did everything...

Should oil brand matter so long as specs are met?

So you don’t think a Tacoma that has been modified for off roading or over landing would benefit from a boutique oil in a desert climate with extreme use?

    Using GF-7A instead of GF-7B...

Go for the -20 and don’t worry about it. A 0w-16 at startup during the frigid North American/Canadian winter is going to be 10x thicker than anything you’ll be dealing with in the Middle East. If engines were that sensitive to viscosity change, we’d all be dealing with seasonal engine failures...
