    Manual transmission "snobs"?

I drive a Corolla with an automatic and I think the bigger problem is with the throttle than with the gears per se. Since the throttle controls the shifting, you can't use it the same. You either have to use very little power in high gear, or near 100% power in a low gear. With a manual you...

All-season tires for a Corolla, good NVH?

I got a good price on the X-Radials so I'm gonna go with those. Thanks for all who have replied. My cousin has a VW Golf, I don't know what tires, but it's much better on the highway, smoother and more stable. It's seems like you're going slow at 75 mph. Even a wagon my buddy has does better in...

Scratched windshield- can it be polished??

I haven't called the insurance company. I wonder, is that damage covered under part of the policy, or is it just something extra they do? I'll have to look for mine. I have State Farm insurance, and my family has had good experiences with them. Lord knows I've given them a lot of money and never...

Scratched windshield- can it be polished??

It's pretty much the whole thing, so I'm not going to try anything with a little Dremel! If it can be dones I think I'd rather have a shop do it.

All-season tires for a Corolla, good NVH?

The Triple Treds aren't available in my sizes. The Comfort Tred is, in 185/65/14. I think it's expensive though, and I worry that might be a little too on the soft side. If I go with Yokohama I'll get the TRZ, probably worth it over the Touring. I've called the places that sell Yoko here and...

Scratched windshield- can it be polished??

I'm gonna put this in this forum becuase it's a safety issue and not just cosmetic. Ever since I've had my car the windshield has been covered in a number of very fine scratches. It has 90,000 now, 50,00 when I bought it. I think the previous owner drove in convoys on dirt roads or something...

All-season tires for a Corolla, good NVH?

BTW, should I call around and find a shop that has one of them road-force balancers I hear about? Are those common and are they really good, or important?

All-season tires for a Corolla, good NVH?

I'm looking at it now on the Tire Rack. It's $45, and rated well in all areas, especially dry traction, noise and ride, but not so great in snow (about a 6 out of 10 there). Still rated a bit better than mine in snow. Where I live it snows a handful of times a year. Of course, I take online...

All-season tires for a Corolla, good NVH?

I've asked this in a Corolla forum but I'm gonna do it here too. I need some 175/65 or 185/65 all-season tires for my 2000 Toyota Corolla. Right now I have General tires. One thing I'd like is if I can get tires that make less noise or maybe also less vibration than the Generals. Of course I...

    Haynes or Chilton's repair manuals???

I got a factory manual for my Toyota. It doesn't seem to have any info on routine maintenance, just diagnostic codes and repairs. It seems to be written for professionals rather than DIYers. I haven't had any problems with the car so I just use the Haynes; I haven't seen the Chilton's.

Fibrous debris possibly found in my engine oil

The last time my 98 Corolla had its oil changed, they put in a Parts Master filter. I'm changing it myself now and I've found a couple small clumps of fine, fibrous debris in the oil. The filter itself looks fine and clean. There were a couple fibers around the drain plug, so maybe it was debris...

Non-white lithium grease and door hinges

I'm not taking them apart. Pat Goss and a quick Google search bring up nothing but white lithium grease. I tried a spray and it makes an unholy mess.

Non-white lithium grease and door hinges

I meant to get white Li grease paste for my car door hinges as is usually advised, but it turns out it's not white. Is it still okay to use?

Do touchless washes remove Klasse or other products?

I just put Klasse All-in-one on my Corolla and will probably add Sealant Glaze. I might start washing by hand more often, but I still want to use an automatic wash for at least the undercarriage wash and because the water will inevitably get some other spots that I might miss. I get the deluxe...

Are tire & dash protectants good or bad?

About the dash, I just want to know if the wipes will cause me problems wih glare from the sun. My Corolla's dash is tan-colored cheap hard plastic if that's relevant.

Are tire & dash protectants good or bad?

I got some Goodyear dashboard wipes and some tire dressing from another brand. Are they good for the materials? I've read some things that say that Armor-All is bad for plastics, though I'm not using that brand. Also, are they likely to leave my dashboard too shiny?

    How to make Klasse last?

I had already started when I noticed some debris on the lower parts of the car, even though i had just driven a mile after two washes. Will a clay bar work, or do I have to wait a while for the Klasse to start to wear off?

    How to make Klasse last?

I just applied Klasse AIO and glaze on my Corolla. It sits out all the time in Northern Virginia. How often should I wash the car, and in what way, i order to make the Klasse last as long as possible and to protect the paint? Also, how long should I expect the Klasse to last?
